  1. -=- About me -=- I was pro-level at 5+ games, made a living off one of them for a couple of years. I’ve been sober from video games for 1 year now and I never want to touch another competitive game. I used to do parkour and I've bouldered v10. I have severe abandonment, neglect, physical + emotional abuse from my single mom that I'm still working through. I’m on my 30th Healthygamergg ental health coaching session (which has been helping a lot). I’ve been taking personal development pretty seriously for about 7 years. I’m a massive empath. I haven’t eaten meat in 12 years and I love animals. My life purpose is to end as much suffering as I can in this world. I have a GF of 5 years. Dropped out of university with a 4.0 GPA as a comp sci major. I'm currently omega part-time working for the cryptocurrency Cardano(ADA). My current career goal is to start a few youtube channels. My ultimate goal is to contribute to Artificial Super Intelligence research (AI safety). I feel extremely alone in this world. I tend to push people away from me if I don't think they’re worth my time, which has led me to push away pretty much everyone. -=- Hobbies -=- Yoga Rock climbing Backpacking / camping Beatboxing / guitar Personal development / enlightenment seeking / neuroscience / psychedelics -=- What I need from a friend -=- Ideally someone skilled in compassionate listening, mental health coaching, therapisting, or someone who is a rough peer of mine in terms of consciousness. Emotional first aid -- imagine falling off a bike and scraping your knee, what do you do? You clean it up and put a bandaid on it. -- now imagine someone at your job calling you a racist name and spitting in your face, what do you do? You need to treat that emotional wound by processing it and talking to someone you trust and who cares about you. For both of our sakes, the ratio of giver:taker in the relationship I’m aiming for is roughly 1:1 in the long run, anything past 2:1 in either direction might start to become destructive without consent. The most impressive thing you could possibly do is be your authentic self. -=- What I can offer to a friend -=- I will always be authentic and honest with you. I want to invest in someone and build a lasting friendship where we can be there for each other for years or decades to come (in an ideal situation). I’m decent at compassionate listening. I can pretty reliably respond to you within 1 day, barring certain events such as vacations, solo retreats, nature expeditions, etc. I don’t care much for spending time on things that aren’t productive -- movies, games, small talk / shooting-the-shit, etc. -=- Requirements -=- Must be empathic or practiced in compassion. Be honest/authentic with me. Please respond with some kind of "about me".
  2. My advice is to think carefully if the debt is worth the degree. There are so many free top quality online resources available nowadays (MIT opencourseware, coursera, edX, berkely, standford, etc. online stuff). Also think about what types of jobs you would want to end up at, and try to learn about the day to day of it and see if it's what you actually want. What credentials do those jobs require? Are there similar jobs that don't require a degree that are just as fulfilling?
  3. @Sven I think there’s a miscommunication on what i mean by “loosely hold my web of beliefs”. I don’t mean having a web of beliefs while intentionally keeping it weak, vague, airy, ethereal; Creating this simultaneous desire to believe in something and to also desire to not believe in it. What i meant would be more similar to very concretely having a web of beliefs, and basing the beliefs on how close they are to “truth”. I created this structure for adding / rearranging beliefs: Hierarchy of how credible / close a belief is to truth while acknowledging no belief can ever be 100% true because that’s reserved for actuality / direct experience. 1. Reality / actuality 2. Evidence 3. Logic / theory Here is the theory: I keep this web of belief for practicality and allow myself to continue adding new beliefs and rearranging old beliefs. Because without the web of beliefs i don’t know if i will be able to communicate with others, progress science, and have impact on the world. But, I also acknowledge that this is just a conceptual system and that if i believe any of these beliefs to be equivalent to truth, then i have made a grave mistake and will be creating a barrier to raising my consciousness. Also, i don’t necessarily believe all or any of this stuff i’m saying in this post. I think it was poorly worded by me, i should have said that whole first paragraph was assumption and a description of the term "web of beliefs".
  4. All human knowledge is held in the form of many beliefs, within the web of beliefs. A belief is an idea or thought of something you think is either true or false. This web begins from a young age in a phase i view as "the imprinting phase", where a child takes in everything he is told as a true belief without question. beliefs are often connected to other beliefs, and building upon prior beliefs. example: everything we "know" of math, physics, biology, or any science is a belief within this web of beliefs. Leo says we must stop the cycle of acquiring and rearranging our beliefs and we must destroy this web in order to reach the deepest levels of truth / enlightenment / consciousness, etc. But this is where I'm at an impasse, because what I think my life purpose will be is 'contributing to the development of artificial super intelligence'. I don't see how I will be able to pursue this goal if I "shouldn't" acquire new scientific knowledge, (coding, math, physics, etc.). Does anyone see an issue for me to loosely hold my web of beliefs? Adopting a probabilistic point of view for any given belief and holding nothing as 100% true, even this statement itself. While at the same time Understanding that acquiring and rearranging beliefs for the web of beliefs is ultimately a bullshit game and will hinder raising consciousness. TLDR: is it possible to use the web of belief to help grow my understanding of the world and not take it seriously, to the point where it doesn't hinder my ability to raise my consciousness?
  5. In regards to your new youtube video about Yoga. Do i start with the "Kriya" book or the "Kundalini" book from your booklist?
