  1. infinite just means uncountable (or ungraspable) infinity is not actually an amount. there are very very very very large quantities that are knowable; some of them larger than many infinities in fact. er, so what i'm saying is - I'm sure humans could come up with some astounding ideas to believe in that are quantifiably greater than "the absolute"

  3. not everything has to be about lp. you don't have to have lp to feel fulfilled with your life. sounds to me like you enjoy exploring, being uncommited, allowing yourself to be curious. it's legit to want to explore life, travel, experience the unknown. if what's stopping you is someone else's videos about finding lp, maybe u should leave that dream behind - it ain't yours and it don't have to be.

  5. @egoless the business / entrepenuerialship isn't the message - "ownership over your life" is - to cease allowing impulse and belief from dictating your experience - to find a more freer mind than one which suffers... idk the best way to say the message and frankly i don't care lol . like you said ... everyone is a little different leo used entrepenuerial ship to enact a passion - so inevitably it bleeds out through the message anyway but you are right. entrupenuerishsiehrfp isn't for everyone idk if I'll do it - prolly not. we'll see tho. i've got more important things to do. mostly, getting ownership over "my life" or whatever way ya wanna say it heh

  8. what I would do is I would sit down and face the thoughts, let them speak their mind lol. over time I could bear to do it long enough, that I started to realize if I gave it enough time to unfold, one thought into anotehr, I'd stumble upon positive ideas that really made everything else I'd thought seem not so important, not so true. and as I did this more and more, I started to see this movement from bad to good happen much faster, to the point where I'd think, "I never brush my teeth" but instead of emotionally diving into the pits for thinking it - I'd grin, realizing that I'm brushing my teeth now - and that's what really matters! hm, it took me about a year to go through that change I believe.
  9. my tip: identify better what it is you want out of reading faster. do you want to be able to scour passages for information? while faster readng is good- whole-reading is better. so practice reading everything at the pace you're comfortable with. naturally over time you will speed up. especially if you look out for indications that you're now more comfortable - and can pick up the pace - incorporate a new speed of reading than before. or maybe you want to learn every day? then stop reading everything - look at the chapter titles, often some of the chapters are not worth your goal in learning X from the book. skip 'em. some of the chapters are worth skimming through the first page to learn the intro of the idea. some of the chapters are worth skimming through everything. some of the chapters are worth reading carefully, some even worth re-reading lol! but you don't need to read the whole book. or is something else important? knowing what your goal is helps structure a strategy to reach it.
  10. blaming others is no different than others blaming you. you think it's annoying? that stems from you doing the exact same thing they do you just use reason and logic and belief to wiggle yourself out of self-criticism a powerful thing I've learned is to stop blaming altogether. stop blaming others, stop blaming myself. what annoys me is always an event that has passed, to the past, and is not going to change or undo. it happened. therefore, it is just a condition that factors into my decisions - er, tho often I find the "petty" stuff turn out not to matter as much as I think. Trump complained that so-and-so was mean to him? sucks to be him, but, how does that actually affect me in my life and my endeavors in anyway? unless my responsibility is to report on his tweets, or respond to them, or something along those lines, it doesn't.
  11. if you wanna do something out of your degree, or at least use it as a skill reference, or at least use what you know for a hobby, then it's definitely worth doing. additionally, the way college is setup in most places anyway - it's a lot easier to have social activity, exercise, food, and reliable shelter without fretting about it, and other things too - college is great not just for the education but also for the chance to practice and learn responsibility. you want personal development? unless you're going crazy with it and becoming a monk to transcend consiousness - then college is literally the perfect environment to start. furthermore - every person trained in psych is trained in the way you're learning in college. not in the way you're learning in personal development. if you want to be able to talk with them, in their paradigm - learn it. it isn't a "wrong" paradigm - and it's got a hundred years of history proving it's meaningful and applicable to many people. not learning it seems like a poor decision if you wanna work as a psych professional, or use psych understanding in your work - even if you don't want to be a psych professional, there are many ways in which understanding the psych knowledge can be very useful. in fact, I bet if you thought about it, knowing the psych teachings even tho they seem useless now, can easily wrap into your understanding from personal development. even if you feel the conclusions are innacurate, they're still backed by research, and happen.
  12. there's no reason why you can't do both. if it is rough for you to have time to draw, then dedicate your next 2 months to making sure you draw for 15 minutes each day. or however long it takes. here is the main points of the strategy I am using to form habits: identify a keystone habit. this habit is the only one that you focus on - you aren't building any other habits. obviously, if say you need to start brushing your teeth every day but your keystone habit is drawing, you still brush your teeth whenever you remember to, no big deal - but you don't do it with the responsibility of forming a habit. it's not your keystone. your keystone is the one you're using your sense of responsibility to focus on. Nuturally, good habits lead into other good behaviours you wanna do happening - expecially if you focus on a good keystone habit, and allow the other behaviors to happen or not, not stress about them - they aren't your keystone, and the keystone is the one you're focused on each day. You identify a Cue for the keystone habit. This is something that will easily lead into the habit. For example, if you want to go to the gym, a good cue is on your way home from work, and you find a gym that's nearby. You determine the minimum you will put into a habit to say to yourself, "I did it today" and the maximum you want to dedicate to it, that it doesn't make sense or interrupts other responsibilities to pass the max. In the gym example, the minimum could be, "drive to the gymn, turn off my car, and remind myself of why this is important" and if you do that three days in a row, but just turn the car back on and drive home - that's fine. you did the minimum. Repitition is more important than quality. repitition forms habits. realistically, things get in the way of each other. we balance a lot of responsibility. repition is more important - if you miss a day, it ain't backsliding, you aren't awful. try again the next day, it's no big deal. after a few months or however long it takes, you'll get so used to doing the habit when your que comes up, that you',ll find yourself doing it without thinking - that is the goal. an it's achieved by doing it so many times, not by dedicating so much effort overall into it. It takes a few years to become a good artist from newbie - and what gets you there is repetition, making art a daily habit. that's what you need. obviuosly you intend to learn each day - but the minimum needed is to do it each day. I am paraphrasing from how I am applying this strategy. I learned it from Improvement Pill on youtube - their Tamed course. I believe episode 3 and 5 cover what I'm talking about here - "2 biggest misconceptions" and "how to build your habit". the habit I'm working on I'll offer as an example. The que I use is more of an abstract one, which works for me because my mind operates a lot easier in abstraction, but the que is "when I am up and ready for the day" - this happens every day without fail, well except days where I'm really in the gutter from depression, which I've been lowing that frequency slowly for a few years now, getting better. The habit is - to do my daily exercise routine. the minimum is to do my neck stretches, as they are imperative, and I can do them anywhere, and they only take a minute - easy to accomplish. the maximum is my full routine and walking for a half hour - 90 minutes in total, sometimes a little longer if I really get into it . this is a habit I've really been wanting to get going for nearly 2 years now, and really want to exercise daily in fact - for as long as I live - it's good. the most important thing is that I do the minumum at least every day - in the two weeks I've been doing this, I've only missed one day - which I could never do such a feat before and it's such a relief to know, that if I fail to brush my teeth or skip a bath or wear my PJ's all day, those aren't what really matters right now. when I feel completely comfortable with this habit - then I will identify the next habit to focus on. And it's pretty exciting to notice a lot of good behaviors pop up even tho I'm not even trying I only judge the "success" of a day off my keystone habit - tho I guess if I was more responsible, I am unemployed, but if I had a job or school I needed to show up for, they would be part of that success-judgement. "I went to school, and also did my art habit - yes! that is great!" and allow the satisfaction wash over you hehe. uuuuuhhhh... sorry I got carried away with this post

I agree that happiness as a state makes sense; I find states that you are or are not in still make sense to call achievable; perhaps it is a different meaning of achievable? idk. be careful with making these kinds of theories. if they are helpful then use them, but they are neither true nor false; only a means to an end; and we're easy to get swept up in that process of means and ends. also, just 'cause we agree or someone else disagrees - it don't change anything if you find a method of concept to help you, then apply it.

I am both happy and unhappy... the only reason happiness matters to me is because it’s worth conceptualizing as differing states of emotion.... naturally I am drawn to happiness and averse to unhappiness but there are often more important factors that guide my decisions. The ego is basically the self afaik... so as long as you’ve identified and named things such as happiness and LP, you're operating ego lol. Doesn’t mean you can’t be a transcendental operator in theory. But can you do it in practice ...

  16. Somehow posted in here instead of there. My guide to detaching yourself from the smartphone: leave it somewhere and go about your day without it. Other strategies: silence it, turn off notifications, put it on airplane mode, turn it off....
  17. So I considered earlier this week and now decided: my life purpose is to become the best worker I can be. This is meant to be applied to any of my pursuits, tasks, and endeavors. It does not restrict what that is, only that I keep my focus at my tasks, accept and establish my priority of them, pursue them, etc - I am building my strengths at accomplishing my goals, whatever those strengths are, and I am with purpose looking towards improving my effectibeness and finding new strategies to improve my effectiveness as I work towards my pursuits. - I do not care what you think about the validity of this life purpose. I’m not here to ask if it’s ok, don’t bother with that lol - I am here first to practice declaring this, because one of my skills I lack is my reliance on conversation to improve my clarity of expression lmao. - I am here second to ask for advice on improving the strength and clarity of my statement, “my lp is my effectiveness: to work towards and become the best worker I can be” - and last I am curious on if anyone else has had or heard of similar lp, and if there was some pitfall they encountered. I am pretty excited about this lp, and consider it a placeholder. I don’t really know what I want to do with my life, but I’ve got a list of goals that I really feel a need to accomplish within the upcoming year. So I’m gonna start by learning and improving my effectiveness in pursuing those goals. I’m gonna go from there, reacting as my short- and mid-term goals arise and become completed. At some point becoming employed and applying myself to that work too, won’t matter if I hate it lol (as obviously part of my lp is to become able to not let my negative opinions hinder me ). And etc. whatever it means to become a more effective worker. Obviously I'm working only with an abstract/intuitive understanding of what being “an effective worker” means , but that’s ok, I’ll better identify more precise facets of that lp as it comes up. But the lp itself, should be stated in a way that abstractly covers those facets within it In about 6-10 years unless it happens sooner, I’ll move on to a different lp, but this one is very important to me. I want basically to segway my lazy ass into a not lazy-ass, and I find this lp to be inspiring to me in acccomplishing that dream of mine. So so any advice on - 1) how to better state my lp 2) any worrisome pitfalls - are appreciated.
  18. I’ve been noticing that the act of identifying a concept or etc inherently strengthens the meaning and importance of it. For example, thinking about how I should eat salad for breakfast is nice and all but I tend to think a lot but not do. But taking the time to stand up and look myself in the mirror and confidently say out loud, “I want to eat salads for breakfast” better identifies the thought and makes it feel more concrete, more true, more trustworthy, more likely to guide my shopping and breakfast decisions. It could just be a trick of the mind tho, so as usual part of my process is to check if anyone else has mulled over similar ideas that, inherently, to purposefully idententify something you’re considering inherently increase how much you care about it. And etc. Dunno why I didn’t ask about this before lol, been on my mind since before I joined the site

  20. idk I like to think experience is helpful, to guide us towards awareness. how could we discover awareness without experience? in a way I wonder, if experience is nothing more than a way for infinity to contain everything. lol - and awareness is existence itself, perhaps. but who knows, that's probably just belief. 100%
