It was only a waste of time if you leave it unhealed. The only reason you think about it cause you are attached to it. Holding you back from living full future. When you fear something you find yourself struggling against like no i cannot do this this is bad I need it to stop. To surrender is to say ok im just going to sit here and listen watch and not do anything and just endure and accept all that comes. If you feel like screaming scream if you feel like crying cry if you feel like dying die. You get into a state where you are not the one doing the things you are watching them all happen. I used to suffer from insane death anxiety and running from it my whole life the thought of non existence was terrifying to me because I had kicked my metaphysical self out of my awareness. I used to get fight or flight response to the fear of death and would have to physically run away from it. I never let it sit there because it was so shocking and horrifying to me that i couldnt. Once my mind was freed from all these conditions I finally could actually sit in one place and not think it was absolute beauty to me that I could actually sit there and not think I did not know people had these luxuries. then I had a trip that taught me what surrender was. I felt like there was a black hole behind my pov and it felt like something evil was sneaking up behind me and I kept turning in a circle to realize it was always behind me . I had to recognize I cannot do anything and I just sat there and endured the fear and it went away. Surrender is a skill and you can get better at it. You can practice it whenever you want just like in your bed and tell yourself im going to die now and let all your muscles and everything just deflate further and further stop thinking and watch. Picture god is a fist closed tight forming your reality and then pretend god is loosening its grip on your awareness and let go. Also cross your eyes as that happens on death
