Damn Hostel is stage 2. This is the darkest Ive watched when this stuff had a weird draw on me in my teenage years. I once worked in a restaurant where another guy in the kitchen told me he would watch gore everyday and it would be good to do that to "toughen" yourself up and be prepared and not shocked if anything happens in reallife. Which was really weird rationalization for somewhat pathological behavior.

I dont watch horror movies generally, but recently I really enjoyed Obsession. Intelligent horror and manages to be genuinely funny and genuinely scary at the same time without much unnecessary brutality (although a bit).

I notice for me it is easier to get distracted, wander and not pay full attention when I listen to an audiobook or watch podcasts. With reading I am fully absorbed into the activity, all of me is going into all of the activity and it is easier to get into a flow state. You can also perfectly adapt the speed to the level that is appropriate for your comprehension of this topic.

Evolution is very interested in you being interested in women. If there wasnt enough incentive to put our bits together we wouldnt be here. But youre probably more interested in the subjective/1st-person experience. I think overall its an ingenious design, it makes life so much more alive, interesting, adventorous, playful, fun... And as a motive it is atleast to a degree behind almost everything one does - it gives everything fuel.

Watched it yesterday. Insanely exciting times to come if only some of what he says turns out to be true. But so far what is happening pretty much aligns with his story.

I agree with you that it definitely makes a difference if you read the original authors and sources or reading secondary sources from Stanford Encyclopedia for example. And reading the the real work has some unique value, which you dont get from the secondary sources. But specifically Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy and Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy gets recommanded by almost all professors of philosophy and is way higher quality than an wikipedia article. Since it is quite impossible to read all the major works of philosophy these places are often the best way to get a good understanding.

Thats exactly the view that Owen Cook is deconstructing in many of his videos. If you dont get good with girls you dont get good with girls. If youre fit and financially successful you can still be socially-weird, stifled, kinda autistic etc... and then the guy comes along who is just more funny, charming, playful etc and she is way more attracted to him.
