Leo Gura replied to bambi's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God This is very concerning. Sounds cool I have not read them but I know some of the Christian mystics had a good grasp on God and Love. It's just too profound to speak. This requires a profound awakening that cannot be put into words. You have to realize that there is no difference between one way and any other way. The basis of logic is A = A. A thing must be itself. That's fundamentally what Truth is: as thing is itself. This sounds obvious and trivial but to actually awaken to the absoluteness of A = A is utterly profound and shocking. Believe it or not you don't actually understand that A = A. You don't comprehend how absolute it is. A must be A, absolutely. A big part of the issue here is how you define "knowable". If by knowable you mean some symbolic scheme or concept, that is totally impossible because those are finite by definition. The finite cannot be large enough to contain the infinite. Infinity has to be endless explicable, which means you can only "know" parts of it, and it has endless parts so your "knowing" is never closer to the end than when it began. It's sort of like you're asking, "Why can't I know all the numbers?" Because knowing them requires holding them in your mind as specific forms and there are infinitely many of them to think up. No matter how long or hard to sit there thinking up numbers you will never reach the last number. Infinity is the impossible made possible but it's not nonsensical gibberish. It has an almost logical-like consistency to it which is based on A = A. If A doesn't equal A, then nothing works. A thing must be itself to exist. You could ask why but the only answer is that you must grok it. I'm not so much worried about physically hurting myself as hurting my brain function or perceptual system or organs. The chemical itself doesn't feel good for the brain/body. Maybe I'm wrong but it's not something I'm eager to toy with. I don't get that feeling on classic psychedelics. This is interesting. I have not done that. Although forgetting I'm a human is what I get in my God-realizations. I'm still in the human body so to speak but it becomes the body of God. My worst bad trip was on 4g of mushrooms so I'm hesitant to do high dose mushrooms. It turns into madness for me -- very chaotic and terrifying without much spiritual take-away other than "holy fuck consciousness can be crazy". To me the only value in that is to experience what true madness feels like. I'm sure I would be. Yes, I have read that. I'd still rather do a larger dose plugged. Snorting 100mg+ of chemical is not my idea of fun. I see, thanks for sharing. I can see that. It was hard for me to balance on a 30mg dose. I might do an updated ketamine video in the future. You are right, these were my first impressions of it. I don't want to discount its full potential. But also I was hesitant to want to do it at higher doses.

	1) You have to understand that we're not all built the same. Some people just aren't built for climbing the corporate ladder or for university. This is okay. You just gotta look for other niches in life where you will fit more naturally. 2) You have to understand that we don't all have the same energy levels or physical or mental capacities. Some people are just more energetic or more robust or even healthier than others. Again, you must find a place for yourself in life which honors your energy level and physical and mental health. You just may not be able to work as hard as someone else. But this doesn't mean you can't find a good niche and be well-off. You have to find the right position for you and work smarter not harder. 3) There is enormous opportunity in the world every year. But it takes passion to seek them out and capitalize on them. I think your biggest problem is lack of clarity about your passions. You say you're not interested in any other subjects. This is a problem. You need to connect more with your passion and curiosity for life. There are so many cool aspects of reality to study, explore, build, etc. You gotta what those are for you. To do well in a job you gotta be passionate about it and it has to suit your energy level, personality type, and health. Try to find something cool to pour your life into.

Leo Gura replied to bambi's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God I'm not really interested in chemicals to access total formlessness. I'm more interested in totally alien states of consciousness which I have as yet not encountered. But I also have to be careful that accessing these states doesn't come with too much risk. For example I would like to experience what datura can do, but it's too dangerous IMO.

	1) Yes, there is def a trade-off between no-mind and using the intellect for creative work. For the mind to do creative work it needs to light up and make connections. 2) But meditation is not necessarily supposed to nuke your whole mind forever. Ideally it trains you to turn your mind on and off based on what the situation calls for. The problem for most mentally creative people is they cannot shut it off and it causes lots of suffering at some point. 3) Paradoxically meditation can make you more creative. Some of my greatest burst of creativity comes a few days into a meditation retreat. My mind floods with creative ideas. Of course to make use of this creativity requires that I stop meditating because it does interfere with proper meditation. 4) Consider the possibility that creative intellectual work might itself be a sort of attachment that needs to be transcended at some point to reach the most advanced stages of spirituality. Of course this is not for most people. Maybe this is not for you. But it could be for very serious people. - - - - The bottom line is that you have to decide what you want out of life and even out of spiritual work. Do you want to be more creative? More productive? More happy? Better at relationships? Deeper connection to God? Ultimate understanding? Freedom from all suffering? These can be very different goals requiring different methods. And no one can tell you what you should want. That's up to you. Nowhere is it written that you must aim for the highest spiritual stage. In fact, maybe the highest spiritual stage is not appropriate for you because you want something else out of life. Get really fucking clear what you want and then work toward that.

	What % did Trump win?

Leo Gura replied to ardacigin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God He is advanced enough to not need it. Once you are good enough at mediation you won't benefit from an EEG.

Leo Gura replied to bambi's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God @Vincent S It's not like I haven't encountered Nothingness or Emptiness. If I take enough 5-MeO-DMT that's where it takes me. To total formlessness. So I don't see a need for ketamine for that.
-
Leo Gura replied to ardacigin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God I don't see why he'd need it.

Leo Gura replied to bambi's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God I don't doubt that it will be profound. But I just don't see myself recommending that to people given the danger. I don't really feel safe doing a k-hole dose. It doesn't feel healthy to me. Maybe I am wrong but I have to be very careful not do something harmful. I trust trypamines far more in this regard. If an equally profound experience can be had on DMT, why use ketamine? That's my point. I don't feel comfortable taking a 5x dose of what I took -- which is what it sounds like I'd have to take for k-hole.

Leo Gura replied to ardacigin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God That's the kind of stuff we need. An EEG machine basically does that. But still, meditating with an EEG involves plenty of work. The thing is, when you're meditating rigorously it's exhausting work. It's not fun and relaxing. At least not until you get really good at it, then it can become effortless. But it doesn't start out effortless. In the future we'll probably have some kind of brain surgery that just makes you great at effortless meditation without any practice. Until such time, teaching kids while they are young is probably the best way.

A guy doesn't really need a girl to have a wicked sense of humor, just that she be fun, playful, and able to laugh at stuff. People who are too serious are not attractive. You should be able to laugh at yourself and laugh at the absurdity of life.
-
Girls don't understand a guy's needs so well. Often they don't even care about our needs. They dress up nice because it's helpful for attracting guys and boosting their own self-esteem -- and it's just baked into the culture. Yes, you should understand a girl's needs more. This is very good. But a girl's needs are actually much deeper than vibe. Vibe can often be a facade that doesn't really met her needs. But of course she doesn't have much else to evaluate you on but vibe when you first meet, so vibe is crucial early on. That's not why they pick masculine guys. They pick masculine guys because the feminine needs the masculine and vice versa. It's not about abundance. High femininity requires high masculinity to ground it. And the kind of girls you're probably attracted to tend to be highly feminine. The feminine tries to optimize from its end and the masculine tries to optimize from its end. Yes, broadcasting masculine vibe and energy is huge for attracting girls. That's like bait for the feminine. The feminine is always sniffing around for some genuine masculinity to wrap itself around.

@Raine As a man you just gotta grow a thick skin and don't get wrapped up around the axle about stuff like this. Some girls laugh at you? Who gives a flying fuck? You should laugh at them and laugh at yourself too. It sounds like you are being too serious. Whatever insecurities you have, you must own them and learn to laugh at them, even using them as the butt of jokes. Make jokes about yourself being bald. "I'm too cool for hair. Hair is for losers.", etc. Learn to embrace your weaknesses and make light of them. Self-deprecating humor is very powerful not just for attracting girls but for making yourself feel good. Honestly, I doubt those girls were even laughing AT you. Your mind is likely just interpreting situations that way because you are fundamentally insecure. It is not normal for girls to just laugh at an ugly guy. That like never happens. People don't laugh at ugly people, they laugh perhaps at some lame way that you're acting. Maybe you are overcompensating and they laugh at that. No one has ever laughed at me for being bald. Never. And I've talked to like 5000+ girls. Sometimes girls will walk up to me and ask to rub my head for good luck. And I laugh. I don't take it personally. You need to develop a sense of humor about yourself and about life. It sounds trivial but I'm telling you this is a huge part of not only getting good with girls but just overall personal happiness. Happy people laugh at themselves. Miserable people cannot laugh at themselves. You want to develop a delusional level of self-confidence such that when people interact with you they walk away thinking: "Damn, that guy is so charming, carefree, humorous, and cool that maybe I should go bald like him. Maybe being bald just makes you cooler?" Stop trying to hide your insecurities and weaknesses. Wear them on your sleeve. Talk about them. Laugh about them. Makes joke about them. Eventually you will stop worrying about it.

Be careful with the elevator. It's a very specific thing you'd have to research first before you just bumble into it. You could get in trouble if you execute it wrong. If you want to test how that might work, find a secluded low-traffic elevator and pull its break, then wait and see how much time you get and how easy it is to restart. You don't want to cause excessive problems for the place. That's a last-resort option. You want to aim for better options. I was just giving you some radical ideas to open up your mind. You would be much better off pulling to the backseat of a car or her friend's house. Also, remember, the point of all this is to enjoy yourself. If you don't enjoy having sex in some public bathroom, then why even bother? Personally I don't enjoy that, I don't want that. But it's worth trying once or twice just for the reference experience and the leading experience. If you can pull a girl to the bathroom you can pull her almost anywhere. That leading skill is what's most important in this. Practice leading girls and just see how far you can push it. This grows you and makes you attractive. Girls appreciate a guy who knows how to lead well.

Leo Gura replied to bambi's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God Well, Infinity is not knowable in the sense that you cannot pin it down with a set of finite explanations or forms. However, you can BECOME it. You can exist as it and be fully conscious of it. It's a sort of meta-knowing which is also unknowing. Sorry for the paradoxical Zen speak but that's just the nature of the beast. I'm curious what effects on your health that much ketamine use produced. Care to share? Did you notice any deterioration in your physical health or mental function? I've gone to Buddhist-style retreats such as those hosted by Shinzen Young. I've also met some serious Buddhist students and talked to people who go to these retreats for 10+ years. I've also read plenty of books written by hardcore Buddhist meditators. And the bottom line is that I find all of it very lacking when it comes to God-realization and Love-realization. Go read Daniel Ingram's meditation book for example. It's one of the most serious modern Buddhist meditation books and you will find no proper mention of God or Love in that book. And this is not an isolated example. So what does this tell you? If a spiritual teaching does not open and close with something like "You are God, God is Love", I can't take it seriously. To me ketamine is a great explanation of how this happens. Ketamine puts me into a Zen-like state of no-mind and not-knowing... and that is that. But the God and Love is largely missing. So people who achieve similar states through meditation don't inspire me much. It's cool, but there is something way cooler to awaken to. What I really want is a spiritual path that takes me where 5-MeO takes me, not where ketamine takes me. I'm sure ketamine gets cooler at higher doses, but I don't see it topping 5-MeO.

Leo Gura replied to ardacigin's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God That is precisely what makes meditation so inaccessible. 99.9999% of people will not / cannot do that. Yet people are sold the fantasy that meditating for 30 mins a day will get them somewhere deep. If you are willing and able to meditate rigorously for 4-8 hrs per day, congrats, you are in the top 0.0001% and you will probably have huge gains. But also, how can you expect most humans to do this? There has to be some better way otherwise mankind will remain asleep forever.

Leo Gura replied to OBEler's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God I find that the best way to use psychedelics for trauma is at low doses. Healing trauma requires a gentle approach, not blasting oneself into God-land. Gentle, steady, consistent, slow. Do lots of baby trips and turn it into a form of self-therapy. Blasting isn't good for that. You want gradually confront truths and inner demons that you've been avoiding, otherwise the psychedelic will itself create more trauma. Remember, you can always dose up but never dose down. So err on the side of underdosing. If you underdose all you lose is some time.

You'd have to use the break to stop it. And check that it doesn't have security cameras. This would require a low traffic elevator. Well, horny mode is mostly good enough. But there are degrees to it. You gotta pump up her state so she's feeling adventurous, slutty, and looking for fun. You learn it through lots of experience pulling. Keep leading and pulling. You'll get lots of failure and each one will teach you valuable lessons so your future pulls go smoothly. Pulling is an art you can only learn through massive practice. You should have tried to pull that girl to the bathroom just to learn a lesson from its failure. Stop thinking of this in terms of sex and start thinking of it in terms of lessons in pulling. Practice pulling girls even if you think it will fail. It's better to pull and fail than to just wave her goodbye and never see her again. Do 50 failed pulls and you will learn how to pull.

@Rishabh R Keep contemplating it. This is not about others. The answers are found within you.

Leo Gura replied to OBEler's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God Overkill. Be careful not to freak your girlfriend out. All harmala does is increase the potency of the trip by 5x-10x. Can your traumatized gf handle a 10x mushroom trip? I doubt it. Never give other people large doses of psychedelics. You will regret it.

Modern society is dysfunctional in many ways and teens are not given the guidance necessary to develop a good life in a modern world. They are basically sent through a factory-farm education system which doesn't teach anything about how to live virtuously or happily. Teens are left on their own to figure it out and most of them never do, or they fall into one form of dogma or another. It's not easy to figure out how to live well and healthy. Especially not when so many adults set a bad example and business systems are literally designed to feed off of and perpetuate the dysfunctions of people.

Thanks cult, ya'll are too kind

@Rishabh R That's a good start. But your avoidance of truth goes much deeper than that. That is just the obvious stuff.
