Schizophonia

(Insomnia) Mirtazapine saved my life.

31 posts in this topic

I have been on this medication for a week and sleep 8 hours a night.
It's incredible, not perfect (sometimes mild headaches, nausea...) but I feel incredibly holier physically and mentally than I have during this whole year.
Praise be to this medicine. :P

I realized that insomnia basically made me crazy lol, like mega impulsive, delusional, unpleasant, petty...

Yes... insomnia reduces impulse control, activates the sympathetic nervous system... it literally makes a person angry, crazy, unstable.  This post had me thinking, if depression is an overactive dorsal vagal response, maybe a drug like this, a tricyclic antidepressant, would help me.  Mostly I just need better habits. My impulsive nature causes insomnia, which causes more impulsive behavior, like a feedback loop. :)

I'm not sure if my mom was prescribed this. It was supposed to be for major depression.

Yep.

just don't take psychedelics or anything else that affects serotonin for awhile after last use and you'll be good!

I take trazadone for sleep. I have delayed sleep phase disorder where I don't naturally get tired until around 4 or 5 in the morning.

miracle for me.

I stopped Mirtazapine, I sleep less well but still.

Low Histamine is hell, like having a constant headache and feeling stupid.

@Schizophonia y haven't u tried melatonin?

Doesn't work at all, whatever the dosage (1mg, 2mg, 5mg, even huge dosages like 100mg lol).

Then just go hiking till you're so tired you collapse in bed. Drugs is not the end all for this thing. Just get a hold on it. It can be tricky for sure but keep working on inducing serotonin naturally and be patient

@Schizophonia you need tryptophan in your diet. I got lavender essential oil a few days back. It works. Hot bath, cold showers and switching off all media before sleep time.

Above all, it will reduce my energy, mental agility, my libido, basically turn me autist, increase my prolactin and e2, decrease my testosterone, DHT, decrease my thyroid function...
It's like treating a wound on your hand by cutting it.

Actually i can sleep, but it require lot of discipline to dont fall on the trap of obsessions because of high brain energy induced by high histamine and/or catecholamine...

@Schizophonia don't ever rely on anti histamines though. I have a huge history with high histamine since childhood and always relying on those addictive anti histamine pills

I actually don't like being low in histamine.
At 15 Mirtazapine does not act too much on serotonin and noradrenaline, it is above all one of the most powerful anti-histamines on the market, more than Doxylamine, Cyproheptadine, Benadryl...

@Schizophonia high histamine can cause high blood pressure and arterial damage. Premature aging

Not a problem if it's not supraphysiological levels either.
Like any neurotransmitters.

It's a catch 22, it totally fixes my insomnia but makes me stupid.
Next experiment: H1 antihistamine with very short half-life, like benadryl.
