Making the most of working 16 hours a day?

7 posts in this topic

I'm stuck at a job that I hate, with family that I hate, in a state that I hate, and I'm fed up with it, but my job gives me the option of working any day of the week, up to 16 hours a day.

So what I'm going to do is, I'm going to work 16 hours a day, every day, and I'm only going to take 2-4 days off a month. Hopefully this will lead to me making between $8,000 - $10,000 a month.

I intend to do this until the end of the year, then I'm taking whatever money I made, and I'm leaving the US and never talking to these people again.

I'm most likely going to start to be an asshole to people. My family and some of the people I work with might not like me by the end of it.

Fuck 'em.

Any tips for taking care of my mental and physical health and making the most out of this? I know cutting out bad food (or eating), YouTube, and porn are at the top of that list.

That's a very intense schedule! I'd almost treat it as like some kind of intensive training in that case.. but a year is still quite long. I'd take a slightly longer break somewhere in the middle at least to recharge, maybe go somewhere away from your family for that too, like a little retreat. Yeah eating well is super important and having a solid sleep schedule. Can always assess how you're doing as you go and adjust too.

Just quit now dude, that’s going to drain your life energy and turn into a bitter person as you can already tell. It’ll take years to unwire that damage. 16hour work day is worse than slavery

The energy behind this feels bitter and angry, sometimes that can be a good motivator especially if youve been depressed or something previously. However it can also lead to rash, rebellious decisions that dont work out long term or cause so much damage it takes a long time to recover. Your plan can very easily lead to burnout or breakdown. A lot of the times when everyone else is the problem for your negative feelings it could be something to do with you and if that is the case the same feelings will follow you everywhere you go.

A move and a fresh start might not be a bad idea but you still have to work on yourself, thats the most important thing.

Good luck to you bro. Hope your escape goes well.

I'd suggest learning to forgive and forget after though. Don't hold on to the grudges.
