Ego dynamics according to Shunyamurti

7 posts in this topic

Basic generalized summary of video: https://youtu.be/ihFtxpLS3zA

  • Trauma experienced --> trauma self invented, accepted as real self, too much to bear --> concept of a tolerable self imagined and preferred to trauma self, inauthentic, causes purgatory like conditions --> censoring agent invented to protect imaginary self from thoughts of the trauma self and thoughts disconfirming tolerable self, creates ignorance --> calculating agent invented for navigating life as the tolerable self using whatever "logic" it prefers, affirms the imaginary tolerable self, produces more karma.

  • Trauma self invented --> seeks love to feel secure from trauma --> not vulnerable enough to experience real love, expressed instead as desire and desire to be desired, desires only changing forms--> regressive states of dependency --> Foolhardy decisions made on this basis, sabotaging the development of one's life.

  • Meditation --> dropping of imaginary concepts and tolerable self --> eruptions from the trauma self felt then dropped (dark night of the soul) --> more real love discovered --> true symbolic agency for navigating life developed --> one's life potentials manifested --> led to True Self

The ego-self will get created regardless of trauma.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@Leo Gura what triggers the creation of the ego? Is it pure instinct?

My best guess would be innate survival instincts?
