You sound like the only other person on my ignore list. After a long discussion on a topic you purport to have spent a lot of time thinking about in your freetime: "I don't actually care". And only conveniently after dropping a 20+ study meta-analysis and a huge thousand-study review, the types of evidence you were desperately begging for.

That's not engaging in good faith. I told the truth, and you didn't believe me. Nothing I say matters at this point.

38 minutes ago, Carl-Richard said:

It was just oddly out of touch with the discussion the way you started to talk about "the general view" in that situation, that was all. A bit like when you defined "common sense" as "rationality".

Alright.

What, you expect me to give something I don't have?

That's the only valid piece of evidence for me. If you don't have it, I have no interest in reading studies. That's the standard you asked for.

Same psycho argumentation as the person on the ignore list. Could've smelled it from a mile away. Almost like I'm a psychic. When losing the argument, do the ad hominem, pretend to exit the discussion and poison the well. Perfect exit tactic. Make no opportunity for a well-thought through discussion. And of course, deny that what you are doing is actually what you are doing.

Repeated bad faith.

The "cult" was a Discord group where people chatted. You're in a cult right now. I was entirely skeptical of the group, just like this one. The reason I called it a cult was because I could see the odd beliefs and the effect they had on me despite my skepticism. And while in the group, I was entirely skeptical of psychic phenomena; now I'm less skeptical. Somehow I wasn't bought into "special knowledge" views then. Perhaps your desperate ad hominem is just that; a desperate, lousy, pathetic ad hominem.

Repeated bad faith.

I already explained why I brought up the cult possibility. It has nothing to do with the discussion itself

Or perhaps I am a starry eyed fanatic. Still, doesn't fare well for you not being able to argue against a purportedly irrational, drooling, pre-rational, lack of common sense fanatic. You should be wiping the floor with every single statement I say. Or maybe "you can't argue with an idiot". Then I say: argue with Dr. Cardeña, Kastrup, Sheldrake. All Dr's btw. Argue against someone with the scientific rigor you so praise.

I don't understand why you're so emotionally reactive. Like, relax a bit dude. It's just an online exchange with a stranger.

@Jirh And if you think it was odd that I stopped responding to a specific selection of your posts at one point, I had written an elaborate answer to it and it got deleted so I "lost interest" for a while. And the further delay is because I have what you can call a life at this point in time.

That's fine. I never assumed anything. Never really thought about it. I just got bored. Is that so hard to believe?!

I can turn into an alien but can't read your thoughts.

We're just experiencing the "the critics won't even look at the evidence" meme in a culture where this supposedly does not happen. Kuhn's observations still apply. Paradigms survive sociologically way past their scientific expiry date. "Science progresses one funeral at a time" — Max Planck.

Mm, feels rare that there’s someone else but me arguing for it too

He is not reacting the way you think, that’s misinterpretation on your part, you could’ve finished the sentence after “I don’t understand” period, would’ve been the most accurate response

You're lying.

Here is a clear standard:

  • Something evident enough that you can shove it and rub in my face and I cannot deny it.
  • Something clear enough that you can poke my eyes out with it.
  • Something stable enough that you can return to it whenever you want.

Science gives you all that.

This is like uncanny, you're using the same language as the person on the ignore list. "Emotionally reactive". And of course without providing an argument. Let me also show you what "emotionally reactive" looks like:

You keep going back to this nonsense. You are trying to equalize all inferences by ignoring the significance of historical data. Lack of basic common sense.

Let me respond to your useless and mostly unfalsifiable criteria once and for all:

It's all projection with you guys.

You're not bored, you're bored engaging using arguments and "common sense". Evident by your continued engagement following the exact trajectory I've described, "pretending to exit and poisoning the well". This is exactly the same psycho tactics that I put on my ignore list.

Let it be clear yet again that the person above is now "leaving" the discussion after I provided the exact kind of evidence he was asking for and without responding to anything about that evidence.

@Carl-Richard

Well, even if psychic abilities exist, you clearly don't possess them. You misread everything about me even after I clarified. Technology is giving you the correct signals in literal text format, and you're ignoring them and trusting your psychic delusions trying to read behind the scenes.

You have to understand that I am not obliged to engage if I don't feel like it. I never forced you to reply or demanded that you reply quicker. You can go back and see. You have to make your peace with the fact that I am a person with a free will. You have to grow up.

It's fine, though. Luckily for you, I'm not the person to determine what truth is for you or for anyone. Like I said multiple times before, you can believe whatever you want. It's none of my business. Just keep in mind that it's also not your job to convince me. You've made this discussion about me instead of about making your case evident. You've made convincing me your life project. The frustration you're experiencing is the natural consequence of the dynamic you created.

Sometimes communication also depends on the person creating the signals.

You don't have to be logically consistent or consistent with what you said earlier either, you know, having just a modicum of integrity.

Shady behavior gets called out. Makes a scene about leaving. Suddenly the discussion is about you. What a surprise.

You came here to have a discussion and now you're leaving. That's the frame people in this thread will agree on. Your pity frame is likely soelly your own, just like your common sense frame.

It's perfectly fine to have emotions and being reactive provided it is not directional or attacking. It doesn't detract from any validity. It doesn't always mean someone is compromised. A lot of the time passion and charge  translates into something else on the receivers end over text.

It's not the best rhetorically if you want to remain neutral, but it's not inherently bad.

ALSO PSYCHIC SHIT IS REAL COME AT ME WITH THE PITCHFORKS

I even experience it with Leo and what he writes as I am thinking it. Often. I just don't raise it. In fact I don't believe half my throughts are even mine to be claimed. No centre. Just thoughts arriving with no control and I can't source who or what generated them. Can't control thoughts. I have no evidence they originate from me.

Yeah, and I'm not sorry. I thought you had something to show. Turns out it's just more of the same. Nothing new or groundbreaking. Just.. disappointment.

@Natasha Tori Maru

I want psychic phenomenon to be real. But it just isn't. My mind is constantly scanning for evidence. There's none that satisfies me.

Lack of argument detracts. Lack of consistency with prior statements detracts. Literally lying detracts. Such as:

That's totally valid to me. I don't have a mind made up for or against. It feels inherently unfalsafiable with my view, which is problematic and indicates the frame could dictate truth. Hence a perspective, hence a falsehood.

So I flop back into the phenomenon not being real. And I am irritated to no end when I experience the shit again. If that makes sense.

when I experience

This part is what I have an issue with. To call it an experience seems too generous.

Most people ignore the fact that events happen without a clear relationship between them. Then the mind fills in the gaps. It's clear to me that this is the case when I observe how sense making works.

There's literally no experience of such phenomenon. There's separate events, and a made-up mental link that connects them together. That's it. Anything beyond that is an assumption.

You have like higher standards than the scientists themselves, how many more examples do you need😂😂😂😂

Yes and for me I cannot exclude that there isn't a link due to the nebulous nature of thought. I don't know what a thought is. Where it is. I don't even know I think. Thoughts arrive. I feel like I have no control.

My issue is with the mechanics behind the phenomenon and not the phenomenon itself, I think... Ha! I think! Ha! Fuck this whole topic 🙃

I just need one clear example. Not a bunch of examples clouded with ambiguity.

IMO you don’t have to believe in the psychic stuff for it to happen. Even if you were convinced by one example doesn’t mean you’ll experience them yourself because of it, but maybe don’t resist those “telepathy thoughts”, just an idea

I have that attitude internalized so deep in my psyche, I can't even stop scanning for evidence even if I try.

I explained above that's how my mind works. I've successfully deleted many delusions and beliefs from my mind. Except this one. It is a sticky one.
