Research, research, research!

Buy books and read them.

The root cause of many auto-immune conditions is either a food or environmental toxin trigger that aggravates the immune system. You must find the trigger and eliminate it. Could be gluten, dairy, heavy metals, plastics, trans fats, MSG, preservatives, food coloring, metal fillings, pesticides, or a thousand other things.

Traditional doctors are clueless and will deeply mislead you on this condition. Their advice can not only be not-helpful but even harmful.

Has your mom been seeing a medical specialist like an endocrinologist or thyroidologist?

@Hardkill  yeah she did, only gave her a diagnosis and some meds.

Oh okay. That's good she did that. Yeah, I would then follow what Leo just said above as I believe he has experience dealing with thyroid issues himself.

@Leo Gura  Your mom has it too I believe it, right? My mom is so closed-minded it'll take me just as much effort convincing her to change as it will take researching.

You can't change her. She has to want to change. She will have to make serious permanent dietary changes. The first of which should be cutting out all wheat products forever. Good luck convincing her of that.

My mom has had thyroid issues too and also saw an endocrinologist/thyroidologist before too for meds. Considering the fact that she is somewhat underweight, if she gained about 10 lbs. on then I think that her thyroid would function better overall.

Is your mom of healthy weight?

Other things are proinflammatory diets (heavy in animal foods, deficient in plants)

How are animal foods more inflammatory than plant foods?

@Twega  To cope better not cure: A dessicated animal thyroid supplement and ed light therapy on the gland for cell stimulation.

Btw how was her hashimotos diagnosed? There is a difference between hypothyroid condition (low thyroid hormones) and hashimoto's thyroiditis (swollen and tissue damaged thyroid with high inflammatory markers)

If its really clinical HT, go to a specialist, there are way to many variables to recommend anything via the internez.

Basically you´ll need to reverse the auto-immune response. This is hard.

Your best shot probably is to reset her system somehow,
meaning cutting out nearly all food, fasting, cleansing the gut, fixing potential leaky gut or parasites, sibo,
getting her into ketosis and autophagy continously observing her symptoms best both qualitatively and through quantitative blood markers,
then slowly reintroducing highly palpable foods such as berries & roots slowly slowly trying to add variety continously observing her reaction to the foods etc. etc.

Your immune system resides to a substantial amount within the gut.

Depending on her age and lifestyle this is extremely difficult. You could also try to find a specialist who will not put her on immune suppressants but has some alternative therapeutic approach.

Good Luck!

Don't assume that. Actually test it on yourself. Plants can be very inflammatory. It all depends.

They can only be inflammatory if your immune system is overreacting (you're allergic to something).

If your immune function is normal, then basically all plantbased foods (assuming it's whole) are antiinflammatory. Gotta get those ?
