does diversity destroy unity?

8 posts in this topic

It seems like our diversity and heterogeneity destroy unity. Moreover diversity is now celebrated as uniqueness, regardless of how much mimicry is involved within  every individual's existence. The more diversity, the more insensitivity there is towards unity, until the actions towards unification actually become discouraged altogether, which is why there is even competition at all. Competition cannot exist without an adjudicative comparison which is laid upon a foundation of fear and contempt, This contempt manifests the envelopment of disrespect towards everything sacred.

Leo did a great video on the interplay between unity and diversity, yet I forget the name of it.

Only if the people are unconscious and selfish.

Maintaining unity among great diversity requires one to be more God-like (selfless, conscious, loving, intelligent). If you are closed-mined, ignorant, judgment, biased, selfless, and unconscious, then yeah, your mind cannot hold diversity. But you are mistaking your own small-mindedness for a fundamental feature of reality -- which is opposite of the truth since reality is infinitely diverse and ONE.

In other words, the more of a devil you are, the more you will believe that diversity and unity are impossible to reconcile.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

Sure, that would be true, if only the act of existence and survival in itself didn't lead to more selfishness and devilry. Just take a look at the dating subforum here ;)

Of course! Devilry has good cause, otherwise it would not exist.

If you were to sit down to make a collage you'd take paper in an array of different colors, use scissors to cut, separate the already separate colors into different shapes and then glue them together again to create your art. The art is unity and diversity as one.

When we create consciously the pieces all fall into place.

There's the duality of relative unity/diversity, which is a function of how we look at reality, where we draw the boundaries, to split up a whole (or holon) into parts. We can see unity as either good or bad, same with diversity. For example, totalitarian regimes and theocracies try to enforce unity and suppress diversity, which is just as hellish as people being individually selfish, so goodness is a wise balance of both.

Absolute Unity is the source of the relative, but this brings in the third aspect - nothing, which is the same as Unity.

Relax, it's just my loosely held opinion.  :)
