Actualized meta skills - main thread

12 posts in this topic

I used the search function but I couldn't find a thread that lists all the meta-skills

  • Structure versus content
  • Separateness versus sameness
  • Explicit versus implicit
  • Open-mindedness versus close-mindedness

Not sure I understand what you mean by "skills". How is "structure vs content" for example a skill?

You don't see the value of not getting lost in the content of a topic? Or not getting lost in the content of life? If that is not a skill, what is a skill?

"not getting lost in the content of a topic" is a skill. "implicit vs explicit" and "content vs structure" are important topics, no doubt, but I wouldn't say these are "skills".

Implicit understanding is a skill too. It is being able to connect the dots. It is one of the bedrock skills a person can have. That is why it is called "meta skills".

@StarStruck Ok I see what you mean.

I believe the most important meta-skill is perhaps self-reflection. If you're poor at that it's gonna impact all areas of your life and you're more likely to make poor choices and decisions you'll later regret.

True. Leo calls it introspection and he has a video about it.

What I noticed. All these meta skills are skills of the higher observer but it also uses the intellectual and emotional modes.

The higher observer is a constant though.

I see the emotional and intellectual mode as a muscle.

The eye, the higher observer can only do his job if you the capacity to control/release the emotional and intellectual modes.

I have categorized Actualized meta skills like this:

Skills of the higher observer:

  • Structure versus content
  • Separateness versus sameness
  • Explicit versus implicit
  • Needy vs Non-Needy Perception

Skills of the intuition and EQ

  • Introspection
  • Letting go
    • Open-mindedness versus close-mindedness
    • Meditation (with various sub-skills)

Skills of the intellect:

  • Question' ability - asking quality questions
  • Self deception - attunement to your own and other self-deception

This is not the full list, but the list we got until now.

More can be added if you have suggestions.

Meta skill = skill that can be applied in all areas of life

I wouldn't call that a meta skill.

Meta skills are very specific and watered down skills.

For communication you need multiple skills to be able to do it effectively. Also communication can't be used with every aspect of life.
