How to get rid of derealization and depersonalization?

7 posts in this topic

If you got there via meditation, which as I have been told is rare but can happen, you might find Shinzen Youngs videos on that topic helpful. Maybe even contact him directly. If I remember correctly he said it is not too hard to steer people in which he senses it in the right direction during his retreats.

Otherwise or even if go seek out a medical professional who you deem trustworthy.

Depersonalization disorder is not a spiritual acquisition or phase you have to go through. A real spiritual leap leaves everything the way it was before, only changing the context by becoming conscious of false assumptions ideas and beliefs.

I hope you find the help you need, all the best -_-

But Leo said that we create our reality and that there are no brains?

@Leo Gura How do I get rid of depersonalization which is in the brain if there are no brains? I though that depersonalization can be caused by a weaken prefrontal cortex but..there are no cortices.

I don't have access to 5 meo dmt either to find out by myself since I can't afford to go to Mexico.

Sorry to hear that. On the bright side: it will get better. If you truly forgive yourself for it, you will see it was a necessary step in your evolution. You will learn to love yourself and eventually figure out how to utilize your unique hardships and struggles for something good. But that is not your main concern now, I believe.

Is that your experience in any way whatsoever? Ask yourself that seriously and don't bullshit yourself. Don't let advanced spirituality get in the way of meeting your most basic psychological and physiological needs. Yes, believing consciousness is a product of the brain is a belief, but so is thinking brains do not exist, if that is not grounded in authentic, direct experience. You can never believe your way into truth. Learn to discern between hearsay and authentic experience.

To counteract the destructive force that adopting spiritual beliefs can have on your life I want to offer you a different paradigm that you can adopt until you are truly ready to transcend it:

  • I am a human being
  • I need shelter, food and water secured presently and in the foreseeable future
  • I require healthy and caring relationships with people I can trust and rely on
  • I entertain the idea of a positive future, things will get better for me

You can modify this as it suits your situation. I hope you get the general idea.

I don't think any drug will be the solution to your problem. But you gotta know what's best for you here. I would recommend psychotherapy.

I tried to exercise some tougher love than I would usually do because I feel that would be better suited here. You are obviously in a tough spot right now. I truly hope you find the healing that you need. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.-_-

Having many years of experience with this, I know just being in this type of work helps a lot. Eating right, mediation, and exercise should be a top priority. Work on more things that will ground you and help bring you to higher awareness. There is not medical solution or really a known cure. But a lot of acceptance and personal development has made it great. I am no longer bothered by it. It is likely paired with anxiety and if you can work on toning that down you will have a nice reduction in it.

@freeman194673 It goes away on its own, you just have to focus on distracting yourself from it everyday for a couple of months until it’s natural to not think about it all the time.

It might not be easy at first but the more you train your mind to distract from it, the more neuroplasticity you build up.

You will always see it if you focus on it, you’ll just have to accept that. But you are over focusing on it due to an anxiety issue.

The cure is literally not to focus on it.

I know this too well. The problem is that your don't allow yourself to BE yourselves. We are too busy running away from problems. All I did for a long time was to just play video games, watch YouTube videos and do EVERYTHING but doing nothing. I would NEVER let myself do nothing.

The problem is boredom. The boredom that most of us feel isn't natural. It is some kind of twisted abomination of natural boredom, caused by unnatural amounts of pleasure.

Do a dopamine detox. Maybe even a few. Depends on how bad you are doing.

Also try to develop your femininity.  Depersonalization can come from your unwillingness to feel your emotions. You have to learn how to love yourself. But loving youself is yet another thing that you can't "do". You have to LEARN it. Learn to accept yourself as you are. Do some shadow work, some inner child work, etc.

Don't concentrate on enlightenment too much. Your ego's current resistance will be too strong. I had a few awakenings, they didn't really get me anywhere, because I didn't do any work when it comes to the basics.. Try to fix your ego before you try to get rid of it. Try to weaken it's resistance before you do anything else.

You will also have to face a lot of ego backlash (depressive episodes and so on) during your spiritual journey. Not loving yourself will make it much harder for you to grow. It took me a long time to figure that out (I am 22 and I only started to think about self-love within the last few weeks).

I think this is probably the best thing you can do. 90% of people who are on the spiritual journey are here, because they have a hard time accepting themselves, and so they try to literally get rid of themselves (their ego). Ask yourself, why do you want to do 5 MEO? I bet you just want a shortcut to get rid of all the pain.

But correct me if I'm wrong with all of this, since I am making a lot of assumptions here. Those are just things that cause depersonalization within me.

Meditation also helps. Sometimes when I meditate everything starts to feel hyper realistic. Like 100 times more real than usually. I then look at a tree, or at myself in the mirror and I  am literally shocked by how real everything feel!

Ps. I personally haven't transcendent this feeling of depersonalization, so I could be wrong with some of this. It's something that I am working on and those tips that I gave you are just insights that I had til this point.
