LOST IN LIFE :(

39 posts in this topic

Current Situation: 22 years old taking a semester of college due to financial reasons living with his Ex-Girlfriends Family. I just got a new job which I am starting to get acclimated to and like at a call center. Generally, I hate call centers though

Problems: 1. I hate college. I realized I am better at being self-taught than I am with the structure that college offers. I am afraid to drop out and have that label "college drop out" and seem stupid to employers and not being able to find a steady income.

2. I am really conflicted about what I want to do. Part of me wants to try computer science and learn how to code, part of me wants to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Part of me wants to be an Au pair for 3 years and travel the world or save up money and travel the world and another part of me really wants to apprentice for Peter Ralston and really pick his brain and learn from him because he is someone who deeply inspires me. I don't know what to do with all these choices.

3.  I DONT WANT TO BE A WAGE SLAVE. I am not a big fan of the 9-5 long term. I would love to start my own business but I don't know what product or service to sell and I don't know shit about how business works and I don't want to fail and look stupid. I also don't want to turn into a greedy business person causing more evil in the world due to my ego.

My biggest fear: Trapping myself in life. Getting stuck in life. Miserable and suicidal due to poor decisions. I worry about my future every day and really need some help. I would go to a therapist but I am currently broke so you guys are my second best option lol

I guess from my shallow understanding you should just ram through the college degree to avoid energy wasted on worrying about being a "drop out" or if it was the right choice. Depends on the cost and how many years you have left of it, here in Europe higher education is often free/extremely cheap in comparison which changes the scenario.

Other than that, there are universally good habits/skills you can develop when you are lost in life, like experimenting and mastering a healthy lifestyle with exercise and nutrition that suits your body. Investing time in health and lifestyle will never turn out to be a waste, no matter what you end up doing later. Health and synchronization of mind/body/consciousness is even more core and is something that affect your every moment no matter what, and in the clarity the healthy habits often bring, a clear direction can pop out. Just listen to all the rich "successful" people word in different ways how health is the true wealth, and how little importance money is if you sacrificed your health for it.

he Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:

“Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

@The Awakened Viking Yeah I studied in Spain for 4 months. Cost is much higher here in the United States and I am taking out student loans for school. I already have a lot of money I have to pay back for a major that I love but can't provide value directly out of college.

The Ralston apprenticeship would line completely up with my values, life purpose, and lifestyle that I want. but I would be missing a chunk of school for it.

@Chumbimba How are your basics?

Diet. Exercise. Meditation practice. Relationship types(friends/Significant Other/Relatives)

As far school's concerned. Focus on finding employment that pays enough to support loans. Don't go to school, for school's sake.

Focus on minimizing your life. Save money like a Mother Fucker.

You are in the right place to improve your life. You don't have to worry about wasting your life. If you follow advice from this forum properly won't have that problem.

@Raptorsin7 basics are getting better. Implementing a kriya yoga practice  and meditating 30 minutes a day because that’s all I have time for at the moment.

My diet is a huge reason for my adhd, brain fog, fatigue and things like that

@Chumbimba Why do you want that life?

My guess is you want the feeling associated with that life. You imagine if you live on a farm with an RV THEN you will feel good and finally be happy?

Yeah because I’m not really about the hustle in rat race. I will be able to do deep enlightenment work. American society has too much bullshit. Business, entertainment, Bad food etc. So yeah I a desperately wanting to just live simply, consciously, and peacefully

@Chumbimba Okay. My point here is that you have that vision of your life because it feels good to you. The radical truth is you need nothing to feel good. Society, friends, family, all this stuff is limiting beliefs we tell ourselves that blocks our natural goodness. The core of each human being is good feeling. You literally are good.

You are in the right place to pursue your goals. Start with the basics. Diet, exercise, meditation, yoga. If you can handle psycidelics i recommend those too but they require a certain degree of mental grounding and clarity so you can handle trips etc.

I highly recommend you start listening to positive affirmations about self love/confidence all the time. You will re-program your mind to think positive thoughts, which will in turn lead you to feel better.

Learn about emotional regulation too. I want you to read Ask And It Is Given By Abraham Hicks. It will teach you about goal setting/achievement and emotional regulation.

Feel free to pm me anytime for advice.

@Chumbimba Sweet. It's an incredible book. Very practical.

Highly recommend you read @Nahm's thread on using a dream board. Buy a big white board and put it in your room, or somewhere you will see it everyday. The board is one of the best things I did to improve my life. It's a must imo.

@Chumbimba
A lot is possible, not everything but much much more than you can possible expect. Let's check facts:

  • You have dept from College
  • You live with your Ex Girlfriends family
  • You work in a call center
  • You had a lost degree in spain
  • You study psychology but you want to change to CS
  • You don't know what is right

That sucks for you. BUT you are only 22. Be focused and it won't even a big hustle to be financial free at 30 to 32. Earlier if you figure out how to make money without a 3 year college.

Ok here is the How to

  1. Research what job is in demand, thus relatively secure and high paying) AND from that what of these job you could possible do in 5 years. Don't be shy, you can do a whole lot in 5 years if you study focused.
  2. Do what necessary is to get a job, for example go to college to get a Bachelor in Computer Sciences. Then apply.
  3. Work yourself up the ladder until you are dept free. This should be easily the case after 3 years of work with a yearly income of 50.000. If not, you will take longer.
  4. Save money, think about retirement. Save enough to survive 2 years!! (rent, food and ALL other expenses) without a job. Go on to save.
  5. You are free with 32.

However, if you buy a new car or a house on dept you will be in trouble. If you start to have kids before you are financially secure you will have major troubles. Same with marriage.

Read Aaron Clarey - Worthless . He is a very grumpy blue / orange guy, but if he has one skill then it is to get you on your way. However, follow the advice and not his occasional drivel about how bad socialism is. That is distraction to you.

Good luck

Programming is the way for me. I found it. It involves problem-solving and it is super practical. I just need focus.

@Chumbimba That's awesome. Mastering the basics like meditation, yoga, diet, affirmations, etc will bring greater clarity and focus. This will free up more attention to pursue programming to your highest potential.

I want to create apps and software. Become a software engineer. I suck at math but I am going to break through that barrier.

@Chumbimba You can learn math. The limits of the human are limitless. Set an intention to learn math, and learn to be aware of resistance thoughts and you will get there.

Basics i mentioned above will be important.
