Is it really that healthy as a lot of people point out?

@Psyche_92 the thing with peanuts is that they are heated to very high temperatures to crack open the shell during manufacturing same as cashews. (hand-racked are not very common)

Fats exposed to high temperatures turn to carcinogens. All unshelled peanuts ( raw or roasted) were processed this way the thing with roasted peanuts is that they were roasted twice which makes them even more dangerous. So when buying PB at least look for raw not roasted peanuts.

But we gotta have fun sometimes so as long as we don't go crazy with peanut butter, we should be fine : ) Or you can make it yourself by buying unshelled and blending them in high speed blender.  :)

@Psyche_92 There's a few factors you need to consider with peanut butter and peanuts in general.  The first thing is omega 6 fatty acids.

"Excessive amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and a very high omega-6/omega-3 ratio, as is found in today's Western diets, promote the pathogenesis of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, whereas increased levels of omega-3 PUFA (a low omega-6/omega-3 ratio) exert suppressive effects." Peanuts are general high in omega 6, so it's something to keep in mind.  Another thing to consider is if you decide to get commercial peanut butter vs natural peanut butter.  Commercial peanut butter often contains additives like palm oil or hydrogenated vegetable oils to keep the peanut oil in the jar from separating from the solids.  Common varieties of peanuts also contain a mold called aflatoxin, a known carcinogen.

Despite all of this, it's fine in moderation.  If you want a a healthier alternative with virtually no negative effects, I'd recommend macadamia nut butter.

I second this. Raw definitely seems to be the way to go with most foods.

Peanuts are the least healthiest nuts to consume. Some examples are highest cases of nut allergy, hard to digest, very high in lectins and phytic-acid(Anti-Nutrients), one of the most pesticide contaminated crops on the market ect... Peanuts also grow underground, where they acquire a pervasive fungus called Aspergillus, a source of aflatoxins, which are quite toxic and known to be highly carcinogenic.

A handful of organically home grown peanuts here and there shouldn't be much of an issue but when there are far better, tastier and healthier other alternatives its a no brainer to lay off the peanut.

A quick tip to find the healthiest foods and less contaminated ones are the ones that you don't see advertised on commercials or all over the place. The more toxic it is the more it is broadcasted on the big screens. Its all business, always has been. Never eat anything with a TV commercial is a good rule of the thumb, 9/10 its poison for the body.
