Resources on Moralization

10 posts in this topic

Recently I have watched Leo’s videos on moralizing and I found them to be very foundational and important for me since I fall prey to moralizing unconsciously a lot.

My question is, are there any additional resources, books, videos, courses I can study on moralization that you guys are aware of?

I can really see how this is limiting me in life and I would really like to get deep into this.

Stuff like this @Shin

  • I should read books
  • I should be peaceful during meditation.
  • I should wake up around at x
  • I should be liked by others
  • I shouldn’t be angry
  • I should make my homework
  • I should have a productive day

Neurotic rules that are set in my mind that sepperate ‘real’ reality and the ‘ideal’ reality concept in my mind. When I can’t live up to my ideal reality, I suffer.

@Max_V I would say it's the mindset of someone who is spoiled, why should people like you?

You shouldn't you be angry? because someone told that anger is useless? If you get angry then you should get angry, you haven't had the required insight to avoid it. Look at Star wars for instance, these shoulds if unrealistic is really harmful and cause you to do the opposite of their purpose.

The other ones are habits mostly, pick one implement for 3 weeks and then go on to the next one. Pick the easiest first.

I don't know the books that helps with that, maybe the six pillars of self esteem.

If you stay conscious of how those thoughts are unnecessary, it should sort itself out, but it will take some time.
You will still have them, but you will hear them more as a guidance than an blame.

@Max_V

Read Loving What Is by Byron Katie. Also, any of the classic books on the Law of Attraction like Ask and it is Given  would help.
