Warning

20 posts in this topic

There is an obsession with the word "enlightenment" on this forum. Even Leo seems hypnotized by it.

Be very careful, please. This fixation can only distract you from being present. There will never be a future enlightenment, it is NOW.

WAKE UP!!!

Yes, but I know Enlightenment itself is a "thing", we've been warned of that already.

That is the trap of desiring something too much, the thing becomes an unattainable mythical being. But on the other hand, you the ego has to focus on the dismantlement of the ego to reach enlightenment, the initial desire has to be there. When you have made progress then you can make the last steps, which is usually the attachments to looking for enlightenment itself.

You can't avoid labeling it, because then no one would look for it. It does not matter since the ego is in a world of labels anyway. So even if you reject the word 'enlightenment'. The ego would attach itself to something else.

Enlightenment is not a thing. Enlightenment is a name for something that can't be named

A thing in the mind of the ego is what I meant.

The problem is that nobody wants to be "enlightened". We want to dream about it, theorize dogmatically about it, and get nice little emotions that make us feel superior.

Awakening would be the end of us. Who would want THAT ?!!?

But it's all about those things on this side.  At some point there must be a transition where you leave all that behind, and yet the thing is so slippery.

Thanks for the warning!!!

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

Yep. The transition is Presence, and Letting go. Without reserve. It's the big slip into the unknown.

enlightenment comes from the word light. Where there is light you can see...where there is darkness you cant see anything...its a metaphor...This is a spiritual light which helps you see beyond the physical world :)

@Pierre

I'm beginning to get dizzy seeing this word so many times :S... used, abused, trashed, mystified, devalued, poked, pierced.. all that!

Upfff

Of course. But from the ego's point of view, it's mere disappearance. A kind of suicide.

This is very true. We need to keep the ego in check as well with spiritual goals. We must remember that ego is very clever and it uses whatever means to make itself real and to keep its identity and "realness" alive, so it will transform itself to whatever to stay alive. It is very important to stay aware, be aware of our "goals", reasons why "we" want it and all tendencies that come up.
