Yes, I have.

It seems like he-said, she-said. I doubt it will be enough evidence beyond reasonable doubt. If there is reasonable doubt then he will not be found guilty. But then again, maybe he will be guilty on one or two counts. It's impossible to know.

I would guess 80% chance he goes free, 20% he is guilty on 1 or 2 counts.

I have not heard of any smoking-gun evidence against him, it's mostly just stories. Do I believe the stories? 100% I think he is a rapist, but I don't think it holds up in court beyond reasonable doubt. How do you prove a rape from 20 years ago beyond a reasonable doubt? That's like impossible. The entire process favors Russell.

@Leo Gura it’s whether the jury counts the witnesses who the girls spoke to after it happened as a substantial enough …..

And whether the fact Russell originally said he couldn’t remember but then later on could - although it’s plausible the memories came back to him and he wouldn’t know instantly without a bit of detective work and memory jogging considering just how many he slept with and it being decades ago!

but yeah there’s no factual evidence so why bring it court anyway?

What did you think of his defence? I thought his wife was very brave to be his only supporter!

@Seed also the jury don’t have to prove it they just have to believe he did it - given what’s just been presented.

I'm not but I think it's really good that these high profile sexual assault case are coming out. I'm a big believer that AI will solve all crimes and wars in the next 20 years and cases like this that publicly litigate and break down what happened are phenomenal for the epistemology of finding the truth of people claiming innocence for crimes they're accused of.

Rape is one of the last bastions of criminology as other destructive crimes like murder and theft are way easier to prove. It's truly a hard question to answer, what piece of circumstantial evidence do you use to build a case beyond doubt?

Are you 100% sure or 95%/99% sure? There is a MASSIVE different in both perspectives. Plenty of people have been 100% sure of things that turned out to be 100% false. We have to leave room for human error and other darker incentives that leave room for the accuser to gain something out of making accusations IMO.

As soon as you go into 100% certainty of something that lacks detail that points to the narrative reinforcing a bias that one might have.

The justice system is one of the top use cases for AI, in 10 years and probably way less it'll become quite simple to analyze someone's brain and see if they are lying. The lie detectors that we currently have can have errors but I think that's asymptote towards 100% certainty of truth is getting closer and closer each week.

Soon enough it'll be able to generate a memory recreation video of what happened during a crime and be able to catch perpetrators beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I think the Epstein Case is the most important criminal case in history and will keep pushing the need for the rule of law to be applied universally no matter your political power and wealth and the dominos that will set the end of crime forever for the humanity of the future are already falling quite rapidly.

I didn't hear his defense, but I think he is bullshitting and lying to save his ass. I don't believe his defense. He is not being honest because it would be too lethal for him.

If he is innocent why have 6 women come forward with similar stories of abuse?

I believe the women, not his excuses.

Because it fits his personality at the time. We was a wild drug and sex addict, drunk on his own fame and power.

This is exactly the kind of guy he was, by his own stories.

@Leo Gura Yeah but how do you go from him being a sex and drug addict to then being a rapist ? It's like what's the logical connection between the two. It's like we all have addictions, doesn't make us murderers.

I think there's a difference between addiction and criminality.

I am not saying he wasn't a rapist, i am saying i don't know for certain.

Now if someone is a drug and sex addict, is he more likely to be a rapist as well, yeah, but we can't know for sure.

Very easily.

yeah, but we can't know for sure.

We're not guessing. 6 women have come forward with stories. The chances they all made up their stories from thin air is close to zero.

6 women do not come forward and randomly blame a guy for rape and SA.

If it was 1 woman, that would be uncertain. But 6 women is not uncertain.
