The story in Zelda games is so uninteresting to me that I don't even regard them as having stories.

Frankly, I do not like Zelda games because I do not enjoy solving puzzles and the story and characters are all uninteresting and childish.

I never play video games for story, because if I wanted great story, I would read a book or watch a serious film. Even most film stories are poor. Video games are not a good medium for story-telling. There is no video game that I love because its story is so good.

Majora's Mask I did not play because it was obviously a quick and cheap asset flip, not a proper sequel.

I understand why you guys love it, but my tastes are different.

You are the guy who is thrilled by the story in a porno xD

When I play an open world game, I skip all the story. Because game developers are not good writers and do not know how to write good stories. Asking for a good story from a game developer is like asking for fine dining from McDonalds.

What is the worst part of Skyrim? Its main story. It is so bad that I don't even care. Skyrim would be better without a story at all.

This I totally agree with. Bethesda are shit at writing a story and God-like at engineering game worlds.

How can saving a princess for the dozenth time be a good story? :S

As soon as I hear of a princess that needs saving, I stop caring.

Yall want us to make the next hype game? Is that wat its coming to? Jk. Im joking somewhat, as i simply dont have the patience, right now. But if it involves just me doing the windowing and text, and yous do the rest (which even that is still too much work to continue from) its like, i dont know if i have the patience, even being paid, as its not bout money for me. I just have to have like, not chaos around me, And then ill move mountains.

@Leo Gura I find it fascinating how much peak artistic material within video game storytelling you are missing out on that intersects with all of your work *cough* DEUS EX, MAJORA'S MASK, SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS, JOURNEY, PATHOLOGIC 1 & 2, FALLOUT (THE ONES THAT AREN'T SHITE), UNDERTALE, TRANSISTOR, SOMA, SILENT HILL 2 <aD iNfIniTuM>

😶‍🌫️

Your peculiar taste never ceases to intrigue me, this is why we love you cause you reallg are a fookehn enigma xD 🍻

I'm working on a game right now hopefully it will deliver what we're all after (it won't)

Let me just sorta point out, im also the wrong person to have any opinion, cause i technically am not in pursuit of any one idea, so all of my opinions are in areas that are like, borderline dream behavior and things that are like "The character lives inside himself, meeting versions of himself, and solves riddles in like, materialized forms of...", You know .. weird things... probably xD

I have noticed that there are two types of gamers: those who play games for story, and those who don't. I am the second type.

To me, games are about strategy, action, and world, not story. I have never liked story-centric games, even if they are technically well-made.

When you say, "This game has a great story", that does not make me any more interested in playing that game. I have to like everything else about it first to want to play it. If a game is fun, it doesn't need a story.

I truly hate that I share the same last name as the devil incarnate 🤣👹

It is annoying that my favorite video game was made by Todd Howard. Life is so ironic like that xD

Thats knda interstin. Ive not really thought about it as two categories like that, which youd think would be onvious, i guess thats a new one, that id have to think bout myself (i havent played games recently, but i think in a way that is gamish and still has relevance, for me, i believe)

I replayed Stardew Valley recently, and that game has barely any story, but it's a perfect game otherwise.

You can have a great game with no story. You can have a great story with no game. But you cannot have a great game with only a great story. Which demonstrates that story is not the essence of games.

Oh heres somethin i noticed in certain mediums, games... for anything rather.... And granted, its edging towards a technical way to view games... And everything else...

But i think it matters, to me atleast, in the right way to think bout the base line of like... "What drives you"

And thats how everything has a rhythm, a heart beat to it — Not necessarily in the soundtrack, cause, obviously there are times where its just sound effect / or nothing, And then there are times where its like, a single sustained chord... however.

, the content it self has a rhythmic pulse, like if it wasnt for the visuals performing that *gathered rhythm*, there would be no sense to it, like it would be that "single sustained chord" i mentioned, which doesnt have a pulse you can follow, And... maybe its just me... I just seem to be noticing that the visuals, atleast in the most playable games, it takes the place of the rhythm, the beat, and keeps the game

like ... Iuno how to explain it... because its borderline musical, mystical, its like, how to write a song in a visual way, with repetitious elements you can follow
