A Belgian car salesman was acknowledged as a prince after a paternity test confirmed his biological father to be Prince Laurent , brother to the King of Belgium.

Delphine Boel was an another illegitimate daughter of Prince Laurent, who fought a court battle for many years till she too was acknowledged as his daughter and claimed the title of princess in 2020.

I find it really cringe for parents to forsake their children like this. Can you imagine being a prince and still being a deadbeat dad? So common too; straight up out of game of thrones.

I don't think the term or even the idea of placing one's self above the masses is that problematic. I think if you the ambition to rise up that's one thing but it should come with integrity.

In classical Athens, they had the concept of the liturgy where if you accumulated immense wealth and status, society placed a massive, direct burden of competence and civic duty onto you. You were expected to personally fund warships, maintain infrastructure, and finance public institutions out of your own pocket. Status was tied directly to how much societal weight you could bear.

That part of status I feel is earned and balanced. We have today and there always were the upper class that is purely parasitic and leashes value from the population without providing much in return. If he is the type of prince to pop out kids and leave them to fend for themselves I assume he is in the latter camp.

Why? Change it to elected official and it's the same concept of having higher power and responsibility than the average person. It's only the meritocracy vs divine rights of kings that changes the concept.

Yeah in history they've been pretty good at abusing their power. My favorite is many popes throughout history ordering the rape and pillaging of many towns for political purposes. They accept Jesus as their savior so it's okay though it's not a sin.

Most women in these royalty setups or imperial harems didn't have the option to say no. 

If you want multiple women to want to fuck you just build a social circle and start posting on social media often or join your local BDSM community, you get the same abundance with no ethics issue.

I have to say. To some extent, I agree with you on royals being really cringe. They are literally people with no merit who stands above laypeople and who are praised for no other reason than their bloodline.

However,

I am a scandinavian from Norway. Our king died yesterday. He was 89 years old. He has been loved, respected and highly looked up to by a strong majority of our population. He was known for being down to earth and approachable, taking part in public events and activities in a very natural way.

King Harald has many times been a unifying figure for the Norwegian people. For example after the July 22 terror attacks in Norway. There have also been periods of strong debate and tension around immigration where he has addressed this in his speeches. The King has always tried to mediate and build bridges when there has been conflict and he has always been clear about him represented everyone. I do not feel that this has only been “for show,” but that it has actually served an important purpose and impact during difficult periods by helping bring people together. Also, it has been in good times as well when Norway went to the quraters in the Fifa World Cup.

I think that one of the reasons Norway is such a good country to live in is that we are very homogenous people where people trust eachother. I am not saying that royals are the reason why, but it could be a contributiong factor, or at least at reminder of who we are as a people and where we are coming from.

Today though, his son who us the heir, I can´t say the same. He seems a bit flat NPC with no charmisma or personality. His wife has been entangeled with Epstein and there was a big uproar when the e-mails was dropped which showed very inappropriate communication. At the same time, his step son was just in court for violence in his relationshipts, transporting drugs, raping 4 girls etc. That was a big stain.

But anyways, do you think that royal families could serve a purpose or that its a bit more nuanced than just "its ridiculous"?
