How does law of attraction work?

I found this blog post from 2017 where Leo lists the things he was wrong about before that, and one of them was:
"I was wrong about the metaphysics of the law of attraction. I no longer believe the law of attraction merely works through brute mechanical means."

He made a video in 2014 talking about law of attraction being just about shifting focus and attention, changing your thoughts and reprogramming your subconscious. which are practical psychological stuff. which is probably what he was wrong about.

Do you think law of attraction works in ways more than just psychological and mechanical?

for example: Your thoughts/emotional state literally interact with reality in some way and cause corresponding external events to come toward you.

@Leo Gura I would really appreciate your take on this.

You can have an intention for a long time but not necessarily take any action on it.  Just because you have an intention doesn't mean you manifest anything on that intention.  But the intention might be all you can create.  You have to be patient sometimes and not overeager for results.  Things happen when they do too.  It is a bit of a paradox.  Trying hard vs. kinda waiting around.

Yeah, great points.

I believe I wrote a couple very extensive posts on LoA and intentions here. There are a lot of perspectives on it but I believe a lot of what is shared on LoA in the mainstream self help is misunderstood.

LoA comes fundamentally down to spiritual alignment and clarity, which is fogged by misaligned or false beliefs. You clear the way, you align and you choose intentions, but you have to let go of all expectations on the outcome because continually wanting something to be a certain way vs how it actually is can cause friction.

Having slightly delusional belief in oneself can be also very helpful, playful self delusion in oneself is really powerful as long as it isn’t used as evidence for a trial against oneself when one doesn’t achieve a desired outcome or live up to expectations set beforehand. Choosing the natural next step in belief that is authentic but most impotently clearing what’s in the way from letting the sun shine through.

Once you are right within, you must really observe what’s outward, really really really observe it and inquire on it. How does it work? What is shaping this? You aren’t going to LoA yourself into being a world class athlete if you are a cripple. You aren’t going to LoA yourself into floating if you sink naturally when in water. You have to really look at the world with a clear mind and understand, starting from within and then moving it outward. This does not mean you stubbornly believe you know how everything works because you know one way how something works. Open mindedness is needed in this process.

When you align with the Tao and are living in Wu Wei and move this understanding starting from within then outward onto the relevant things you believe are aligned with your intentions such as certain actions or choices or things you believe are right to do, you’ll see that from the unknown things unfold aligned with your intentions. Not perfectly, sometimes they may not meet your expectations, sometimes they may far surpass them.
