What does INTP productivity look like?

7 posts in this topic

I'm curious about your takes in this forum, that would be helpful a lot.

Do you think INTPs lean more towards loose structure over rigid schedule, and they value solitude, curiosity, deep work over the more discipline like productivity? do you notice some distinctions about INTP productivity?...

I can’t answer from experience as I’m an INTJ, but I can answer based on what I know about INTPs. They have a reputation for being unproductive people living in their mom’s basement if their intelligence isn’t nurtured properly. When they are productive, it revolves around deep intellectual curiosity where Ti hero can apply itself to analytical understanding with the help of Ne parent. An INTP can probably answer better what it looks like for them though.

Jesus you didn't have to roast them like that lol. It's a harsh truth though.
Thanks for the comment

:D I'm an INTP, so true. Out of the 16 types, INTPs are the 3rd worst at making money .ISFP after and INFP dead last ranked by average income.

I've had to make business an intellectual endeavor and focus on the art and quest of knowledge part of it to find some success as opposed to types like ESTJs and ENTJ which are the top 2 highest average income due to lack of overthinking and high average industriousness I guess.

Obsidian and Leo's video on the common place book strategy have also completely changed my life. It's allowed me to super charge my intellectualism and keep track of my knowledge and ameliorate it each day instead of falling pray to useless vague intellectualism that INTPs usually fall into. Also thank God for pickup which grounded my heavily in the real world and the validation of women otherwise I would probably literally be a basement dweller myself

I would say I'm in the top 0.1% of most social INTPs because I tread my social life like a system and a science experiment as opposed to actually just socializing to recharge my energy which I don't enjoy doing.

I guess that's a very important idea. INTPs are mostly either intellectuals or creatives or both. That's what they find most engaging and interesting.

Yes the problem with business is it's not very interesting. You find a gap in the market and then you send mass outreach to clients and you fulfill services or build products and iterate. The insight idea happens only once and the rest is emotional labor. It takes massive amounts of originality to create a business that leads to you being able to think, contemplate and have insights daily like Leo did as opposed to just doing monogamous tedious tasks all day everyday.

Alex Becker recommends basically boiling down your life to 4 things, work, meditation, relationships and reading fiction. Funnily enough it's very similar to a spiritual ascetic lifestyle but you remove all the juice of life when you do this imo. I spend all day researching random topics, linking them together and working on my obsidian common place book. I only spend like 2 hours a day if that on the mechanical parts of my business.

If I switched the two allocations around I would be wildly more successful than I am now but I think my path will work too as I'm building a lot of leverage through systems thinking so we'll see how it turns out in 5 years .

It seems like INTPs are really attached to thinking.  They can also be playful with thoughts or words usually in my experience.
