@Leo Gura As a social media marketer type, what should I do to avoid falling into these gimmicks, trips, circuses, and traps?

@Asayake yep, I understood.

Enjoy your time away with higher consciousness groups!!

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

Sadly this forum has turned into a place where you can't have intellectual discussions anymore, you'll probably not see me back for a long while. This thread is useless, what is the discussion exactly, Leo calling out Bryan Johnson for building a brand around health while Leo is building a brand around spirituality? Allow me to lol. There's no nuance just Leo expressing his grievances towards Bryan Johnson for unclear reasons and people rallying around his opinion as usual, The forum has become the epitome of conformity, and in which universe did you engage with my comment, did you understand what I meant??

Of course we can, you're just not understanding the psychology of the issue. When people deal with chronic health issues like Leo, Natasha and others then of course they're gonna be offended by people preaching magical solutions that perhaps might one day happen but aren't helping yet.

I love AI but my roommate a few years ago was telling me about post scarcity and " BrO theyRe Gonna Announce UBI AnydDay Now Why ArE you complaining!!" when I had $300 in my bank account and he had 100k in his and I felt like punching him in the moment for lacking empathy.

Bryan does sensationalize his work and research which has some good effects like bringing more awareness to it but also it serves as overhyping something that can't really help people today.

Of course it's yours. You're pointing fingers instead of figuring out your own blindspots. Saying that you're beyond something instead of trying to understand it which is the easy way out and ultimately a critique from below. The mind likes to think that it's  always right but for that to hold up consistently you must first understand the other party's point of view and steel-man it instead of straw-manning it.

Leo points to a valid phenomenon in that marketers tend to overhype stuff and even truly competent entrepreneurs tend to underestimate the timeline it takes to bring stuff to market. So even though Bryan means well it's a fair critique of his brand. Elon Musk famously does the same thing and even though he usually delivers; it pretty much always never goes according to his promised timeline.

So where is anyone engaging with what i wrote? You’re not engaging with my thought neither is Natasha, why should I give you any thought at this point? This forum is a waste of my time

Think of Bryan Johnson like Aristotle’s bending of the stick: society is bent too far toward processed foods, fast food and no excercise. Bryan Johnsons approach might be extreme but sometimes it takes extreme force to bend back the stick. In a world of influencers and attention you gotta play by the rules, a nuanced certified nutritionist who shows epistemic restraint and uncertainty has no influence in todays world, its like the difference between a spiritual monk who sits in a cave and a spiritual influencer like Leo, one inuenced us while we dont even know about the other one

I didn't feel like backing up Bryan once more after I did it repeatedly would more value to the thread, highlighting your blind spots is more fun for me I like to challenge people. With skillful rhetoric you should be able to turn any conversation into a valuable exchange for both parties.

It's a good point though you need people to push the overton window for society to evolve even if they do it not perfectly. I love the fact that Bryan coined the slogan Don't Die; I think that with the way biotech, medical research and AI recursive learning is going there is a good chance that we do end up biologically immortal in 20 years.

The Problem is, Bryan Johnson is not intelligent. That's also he mesures everything but not his iq.

He doesn't approach this whole health thing intelligent. Taking 100 pills, taking steroids, wearing makeup, his stupid training. It's funny how people can take him seriously.

This point is hilarious but seems bit true in that I think Bryan seems to not be a breakthrough researcher himself but more of an entrepreneur/marketer who shares his personal health journey as a way to leverage his business skills to add value to the medical industry and create a strong brand.

I also like how he went to India and humiliated them a bit on their air quality issue. It definitely lacked some social calibration but its a useful call out; apparently 2M die prematurely over there due to it thats fucking crazy.

@Asayake you have to agree with father Leo and mother Natasha. Otherwise you won’t be liked by the conformity crowd around here 🥲

Unlucky for Leo then that he taught me not to fall victim to group think & conformity, he can’t hand me the weapon and then not expect me to use it
