Big Meat is destroying the planet 🙊

14 posts in this topic

It most definitely is, and so is agriculture. However, I do believe that the meat industry is gravely inefficient and has much potential to improve. I distrust the big Anti-Meat narrative being pushed. Other legacy industries are waaaay more destructive.
You should read Sacred Cowby Diana, Rodgers and Robb Wolf. But just to give a couple of quick points:

-air born pollution from cattle, even though its huge, it’s part of a cycle. As opposed to fossil fueles which o new material into the atmosphere.

- Animals are big recyclers! Most of the material produced by agriculture is not fit for human consumption and ends up being feed. Same goes for dirty water.

- Nutritional density is unbeatable

- As opposed to growing planta, cultivating animals does not require much of the land. Irregular and otherwise infertile land unfit for growing food can be used for raising farm animals -etc

It's sad we are distributing the planet.

The biggest lesson and skill of life is letting go. Getting comfortable with distruction is the key to peace.

Every old person goes through this as they watch their bodies slowly get destroyed by age. The environment will sadly but definitely get destroyed by humanities need to grow and survive.

And as the Martin Ball song goes: "when there's nothing more to let go".......

No Livestock farming accounts for less than 15% of CO2 emissions.

No one wants to return to the Stone Age in the hope of achieving a carbon-neutral or carbon-negative footprint. The solution will come from geoengineering.

Especially with AI

The documentary is about the drying up of a river in Nevada used by a dam due to high heat, and I imagine changes in currents.

The water doesn't disappear when you give it to animals; it is released in their urine and feces and ultimately ends up in the soil and groundwater. You can restore dead soil by placing animals on it.

All of you should simply talk to ANY AI about veganism: animals and the environment.

Why are you talking about Saudi Arabia It is a desert; groundwater reserves are scarce and recharge slowly they need to limit their consumption, livestock or not most of the water they use is either desalinated seawater or imported.

Guys shut up, stop talking to each other and go talk to a robot instead.

I'm really starting to think we did all die during COVID and this is hell.

Just joking. AI is a great place to do research and can quickly and accurately answer questions much faster and with less toxic online disinhibition effect that you get when talking online with humans. Good advice.

That's a hopeful outlook but first we will need to see much more destruction to motivate people to do that
