Understanding formlessness

8 posts in this topic

I was talking to Ai again about light, I thought the universe outside the human mind was black and white but upon talking to AI i can understand that its formless not black and white.

Without a human eye—or any animal eye—the leaf has no colour at all.Colour is not a property of the leaf itself; it is a neurological event that happens inside a brain. What the Leaf Actually IsIn the absolute absence of an observer, the leaf is a collection of colorless atoms and molecules. It possesses physical properties, but no visual ones:It has texture: The surface molecules form a physical shape. It has chemistry: The chlorophyll molecules are actively reflecting light waves measuring roughly 550 nanometers. It is a reflector: If sunlight hits it, the leaf acts like a selective mirror, bouncing certain electromagnetic waves back into the environment. The Missing IngredientWithout an eye and a brain to intercept those bounced light waves, the physical universe remains completely dark and silent. The light waves bounce off the leaf in total "colorlessness," just like a radio station broadcasting a silent signal through the air until someone turns on a radio receiver. Therefore, the leaf is not green, it is not black, and it is not white. It simply exists as raw matter interacting with raw energy.

If you want to see what formlessness means you can have your eyes open look at and touch a leaf, then turn away from the leaf and look at the empty space the leaf was at and see that that is the true form of a leaf. The textures are still there somewhere but its true form is revealed.

The universe not black and white is formless. You are making up the form.

The true form of an object is not what its showing you its true form is not black its more like invisible. So the form of the universe itself is invisible. Not seen or cant be seen.

This mean when you look at a tree a leaf the sky and the ground none of those exist, the true essence of it all is an invisible unlabeled field, that looks nice smells nice and feels nice.

When you experience an awakening all these labels go away and there is nothing to identify but the entire happening of reality as one thing and you couldnt see it before because its invisible.

Reminds me of Jim Newman's claim that there's actually no consciousness as such. As opposed to most other teachings that say that it's all just consciousness. What they call Consciousness, he just calls indescribable mystery.

I personally resonate deeply with Jim’s message. Thanks for that. 💯👍

The water has no mind to receive the picnic basket’s image. Well Said, Hojo.

I'm curious, how do you interpret his claim that there's actually no consciousness as such ?

(Im still struggling to integrate this with the more popular teaching that everything is consciousness)
