I'm moving to China

What languages do you speak? Most people speak English there?

Are you engaging with locals or just expats?

Friends of mine went to a cruise ship in China and they were shocked by Chinese manners. They said they would never go back.😅

Im surprised to see Westerns who are excited about China

English. But I'm learning Chinese currently. From my experience in Asia they appreciate it when you go out of your way to learn their native language.

Eh, those so-called 'bad manners' come from the older generations there (40s and up). The youth in China have moved on from some of those things your friends described.

Like with any new country/culture, you gotta weigh the pros and cons. Where I'm going quality foods (produce and spices) are cheap, rent is cheap (and nice as fuck), and the people are open and laid back.

Although most of China is relatively stage blue/orange, the city I'm moving to has arguably the largest contingents of stage green and relaxed orange.

So yeah, there are good reasons to be excited. Also, China is the only major country on the planet that's reversing its own environmental impacts; even though yes, its pollution levels are still high, they have been decreasing over the years, and will continue to do so.

When I get there and settled I'll update the forum on what it's really like~

I'm interested to know how real the fakeness and especially poor construction quality is in China. Is it that bad? Seems like accident waiting to happen.

I have seen multiple videos about this, but nowadays you don't know how you are being played anymore. I always try to verify for myself.

Some of that is true. There's a plaza near where I live in Chengdu that's not even 3 years old that has a bunch of cracked tiles, I guess from cars driving on them. When you walk by you can see they are thin and brittle.

Otherwise China is extremely convenient, efficient, and fun to be in. I am already much happier here than in America. Friends and ladies are easy to come by, and everything is very affordable.

Thanks for first hand response. Someday I will set foot in China, but I have to take care of other things first.

I have a request, can you check if you see shark fin soup, or even shark fin stores there?
Thanks in advance.

Hainan Island is a bucket list holiday destination for me in this decade. Want to experience that China beach life! :D
