‘Weary of Those Who Speak For A Living’

3 posts in this topic

Leo, mentioned be weary of people who speak for a living, at one point.

I would like to dive into this a bit deeper.

Initially I thought ‘Doesn’t Leo speak for a living?’

I realize I am probably ignorant. And the word ‘living’ does a lot of work here.

Leo sells courses, makes video games and probably a lot more I do not know about.

Nonetheless, speaking is a big part of Actualized.org and how many of us ended up here.

Almost being 25, I still do not have the direction with my life I thought I would. But I love speaking, debates, learning from people, etc.

I see all of the issues with that and wonder where the line could be.

Leo seems to have a good job balancing his public discourse, whether it’s on the forum, videos, interviews, etc.

I do not think it is anywhere near his main focus, however. That probably helps.

There is also the issue of AI, general safety concerns and more for anyone who wants to be a journalist, podcaster and/or interviewer, etc.

I get the impression many people do not feel comfortable speaking out. Many people do not refer to people or conversations, like they used to, etc.

There is a lot here I know. As much as I’d love to figure out the future, career paths, etc. — I am mainly curious how everyone views public speaking, different formats, etc.?

What is career worthy vs. automatic cringe?

I do speak for a living.

That's why I'm wary of it.
