So you are the observer right? The observer is just a structural point that happens in the experience. Enlightenment happens when the observer open itself to what reality is, becoming an eye that see the absolute  and realizing that the eye is the absolute in seeing itself. 

If you want to open yourself to the absolute you have to start from humility. You always have addressed this work from the need of increase your ego, and this doesn't work

Enlightenment is not guaranteed by any method.

No, you are not the observer. Observer is an action, like attachment to thinking. Even observer vanishes. 

Be witness till witnesser vanishes.
