So mendicants, donât speculate about the world. For example: the cosmos is eternal, or not eternal, or finite, or infinite; the soul and the body are one and the same, or the soul is one thing, the body another; after death, a realized one still exists, or no longer exists, or both still exists and no longer exists, or neither still exists nor no longer exists. Why is that? Because those thoughts arenât beneficial or relevant to the fundamentals of the spiritual life. They donât lead to disillusionment, dispassion, cessation, peace, insight, awakening, and extinguishment. When you think something up, you should think: âThis is sufferingâ ⊠âThis is the origin of sufferingâ ⊠âThis is the cessation of sufferingâ ⊠âThis is the practice that leads to the cessation of sufferingâ. Why is that? Because those thoughts are beneficial and relevant to the fundamentals of the spiritual life. They lead to disillusionment, dispassion, cessation, peace, insight, awakening, and extinguishment. If we are just balls of energy and other people are balls of energy, we cant know they are there until we touch them and when we touch them we cant know if its just our reaction to ourselves. Like how does the peroxide know what its reacting too if its the reaction itself to something. The peroxide dosent know about what its reacting too but it starts foaming for no reason to itself.
