Every time humans try to reinvent religion it eventually becomes another belief system people start defending like the previous one.

Well, all previous attempts were not advanced enough. That shouldn't stop us from keeping on trying.

I’m just not sure humans can fully step outside being human.

Fully? No.  Not while you're occupying a meatsuit.  You can get the occasional taste in the meantime however.

Humans trying to ‘transcend being human’ usually just end up inventing another story about themselves.

If you haven't experienced the reality then to you its just a story.

If anyone does that means that he's not very smart, or better, not very honest with himself. It's quite obvious what's a mental construction and what's real

Come on now.

Know Thyself means you know.

Human vs God is a fluid dynamic without any obvious line of demarcation between the poles - its fuzzy.

That’s what every new belief system tends to say about the ones before it.

Experiences are real, but the explanations people build around them aren’t always.

If it were that obvious what’s real and what’s a mental construction, humans probably wouldn’t spend centuries debating it.

Whenever someone starts capitalizing ‘Truth’ and ‘Love,’ I get suspicious we’re drifting from philosophy into poetry.

Truth & Love are closer to poetry than philosophy :P

I think Manly P Hall said it best: The individual absorbs knowledge, the Truth absorbs the individual.

One must be willing to die to Truth, then one can live truthfully, honestly, authentically.

One can then truly be, thyself. Ego is still there, but totally integrated.

It’s a beautiful metaphor. I’m just not sure it explains much beyond the poetry of it.
