Intelligence vs intellect

23 posts in this topic

Intellect is IQ. Intellect is language. Intellect is ego.

Intelligence is a caterpillar knowing when to create and go into its cocoon. Its the caterpillar knowing how to make a cocoon. It dosent think about it, it knows. No one teaches the caterpillar that one day it will need to go into a cocoon and that it will turn into a butterfly, it just innately does that, it's what it has to do without knowing the outcome of its actions.

Gods intelligence with earth is something it innately did the same way a caterpillar innately goes into a cocoon and turns into a butterfly.

How weird is God that it innately created a planet? The same way a caterpillar innately creates a cocoon? If what the bible says about God is true that it innately (intelligently not intellectually) created a planet in 7 days, its very weird.

I'll give you one weirder - according to the Bible and the Qur'an, the origin of humankind was sent down from heaven for committing the sin of eating from the tree.

That same God subjected the descendants of humanity's origin to tough times, calling it having to toil in the fields instead of being served by the environment (sic) in the Bible and sent down as enemies to each other in the Qur'an.

We are being punished for our ancestor's choice to eat from the tree that was prohibited.

According to religion.

Weird, huh?

Intelligence is very mystical and magical as is Consciousness.

@Hojo My opinion is that there was some thought that went into it. My understanding is that he converts what was at first a thought of his into reality, manifesting it from his mind into actuality.

It’s the only thing I can reconcile - he thought to do, then he did

Otherwise he’s an animal with base instincts, just doing constantly without the reasoning capabilities required when dealing with randomness

Infinite intelligence has it all in its hands without anything.  The entire universe - your fate and mine - constructed within an instant.  Omniscience.  Its power cannot be comprehended.   But a caterpillar turning into a butterfly or a dog marking its territory- this is a very low level of intelligence (instinct).  It does not require much because it is already part of the grander scheme.

Yes but there is a will, no? The intelligence precedes the will. Think about it - without a controlled will and just infinite intelligence, the world would be filled with chaos, each fragment of it vying to be the actual

There wouldn’t be mutual ground upon which we can converse, it would constantly be psychosis-like conversations where one person is at one end of the spectrum and the other at the other

Yes but most beings don't possess will.  A caterpillar doesnt possess will.

I was talking about God - the infinite intelligence I thought you were talking about. But a caterpillar does possess possess will, it wills to eat leaves, to make the cocoon. It’s just not will like ours, it’s not reasoned will, it’s just animal will, it’s just base desire

Ahh yes.

God's will roots in selflessness while a finite Being's will roots in selfishness.  But yeah I see your point in the caterpillar's will.  It still wants to do something it just doesnt have the ability to grasp that it is.  So what is will then. Is it realizing it? Interesting question.

Maybe it does realise it, but it can’t reason its way out of it. All animals are beings of need - they need so they do. Humans, ideally, should be beings of reason, reasoning our way through life

Interesting.  I guess we will never know.  Enter solipsism

@Inliytened1

I experience similar issues on occasion.

@LEarnIts like if you were making a simulation in the computer. If you look at the base state, mouse and keyboard moving. There is no one there thinking where the mouse and keyboard is. The intelligence is coming from something that is not there. the thing doing it is not the intelligence and the intelligence dosent exist inside the computer program, its behind the computer program. Now repeat that over and over and over. The person creating the simulations intelligence isnt in the simulation itself its outside the simulation. And the intelligence of the person creating the simulation isnt inside the person its somewhere else.

When God the intelligence creating the planet like a simulation( or like caterpillar blindly creating a cocoon to turn into a butterfly), not thinking just doing, that intelligence is not there its somewhere else.

If you watch a video or see a person making a video game in a program, you see a mouse moving, code being put in, moving around and testing. Inside the computer there is no intelligence. The intelligence is coming from somewhere else in another dimension of reality. The intelligence of reality is in another dimension in a similar way. The computer is 'creating' a cocoon without thinking about it via intelligence. God is the infinite regression of intelligence when you reach the bottom (or top) you see this intelligence is coming from a void of nothing.

Infinite intelligence of computer program -> human on computer -> soul of human -> God.

'Your' intelligence is not coming from you, its coming from something behind you like how the intelligence of a computer program is not coming from the computer program.

Similar when God creates a planet its intelligence is coming from somewhere else.

Why would you begin with terms and end up in theory?

And if the theory is correct on its own right, haven't you done it a disservice if you risk it not matching the terms of natural language?

It seems strange to me to give this a lot of thought and then end up asking "what do people generally mean when they use a word (such as intellect)?, and then to device a discussion based on whether the former maps to the latter.

You are far from alone in this, i have seen it many places, could it be that you want to ensure that you use the terms in the right way when speaking?

@LEarn There is a will but its not yours.  Its gods the intelligence behind yous will. You could say your souls will then Gods will.

If a caterpillars intelligence is to make a cocoon there is something 'playing' the caterpillar and its in a flow state cause it innately knows how to play a caterpillar.

The intelligence of the caterpillar isn't in the caterpillar. Its running it. Its like a speed runner playing a video game perfectly. The game isn't playing itself the intelligence of speedrunner is from outside the game.

God is like this it just knows how to use the program of the universe cause its been doing it forever. Literally forever over 594938388485 trillion years. More then 394858483939495958484 x 49394948484i4i389494 trillion years.

I beleive this is why you want to stop listening to the ego and let the body do what its doing. You have infinite intelligence playing and ego is a block for this intelligence.

@Hojo this is correct and yet the illusion remains that we have a will and in so we do have a will..just the same as it is all imagination and yet because there is nothing else this becomes reality by default.   We feel like we are making the choice to go left or right so what is the difference then between us and God.   As long as we feel and think we are doing it isn't this as good as we are doing it even if absolutely speaking it is the Universe?

And now you get to the punch line.  If that is the case then perhaps there is no difference between us and the universe.

That reads too antrophocentric. But you may say that the caterpillar teaches itself, intelligence teaches itself. A parent never teaches a kid, the kid teaches itself, technically. But also it doesn't, because the kid is not separated from the parent. They truly act as one.

Same thing with a bird and its chicks, they act as one instinctively. The bird feeds them and the chicks know they just have to open their mouths to be fed.

I don't know about caterpillars, but I am sure they are not such a separated thing.

Not antrophocentric he says its all God doing it and we have no free will.  This is true in the sense that there is no difference between us and God but that also negates the belief we have no free will.  If we are the universe then the will of the universe and our own is one.  Now the question really becomes what @LEarn was talking about.  Where is the ability to reason.  I think this would be lost with species with lesser minds than humans.  Because they lack the ability to self reflect.

If you want to get deep you can also admit this is something you can only assume because you cannot confirm they' have consciousness.
