Viral social experiment exposes religious corruption

A woman on tiktok has been calling churches claiming to have a baby that hasn’t eaten in a day and asking if they can help with formula.

Despite churches being tax exempt ostensibly because they are sipped to help the community, Shockingly most refused to help her, the larger churches including Charlie Kirks churches almost all being no’s.

I'm not sure I understand what this proves. Churches are tax exempt to protect religious freedom first and foremost. Their main purpose is to host a religious community. Charity is in of itself a religious activity for many religions.

The sampling is also tiny.

That's not a good way to measure one's level of compassion. There are a milion reasons why you'd be suspicious of strangers asking you for money on the internet. Those who said yes are actually suckers who got scammed lol. And it's not like being compassionate automatically implies you'll become a yes man to every person's whim. There're so many problems with this test. Super lame

She wasn’t asking for money, she was asking for baby formula

I think she's asking for a good kick in the ass. That's what I would give her, and I donate to charity regularly.

I think corruption is too strong of a word for this. I suspect if the mother was known amongst the community of these churches they'd have helped her. Christian churches are very cliquey from what I gather and they'll be very supportive of members, but not very supportive of random people unknown to the church.

I also suspect that if the mother went there in person she'd have been offered more help as well.

Buddhists make a bigger deal out of helping everybody they can regardless of their relationship to the organisation.

It's not really corruption because the purpose of religious institutions isn't charity. They sometimes do charity but they are not charities.
