Not fixing your school is not a flex. If you don't finish your school you will become a quack like Tracy. If you are in self development the only teachers you need is Joe Dispenza who is a prof and a doc. And couple of others. There aren't that many good teachers.

The dogs bark but the caravan is moving on.

No these books are normal size. He reads all kinds of books. Fantasy, Roman for entertainment. No self development books. No children books of course.

That's some real commitment.

but at some point you wont gain much more value by reading hundreds of personal-development books.

all self help book systems have a blind spot. all systems have blind spot. so in order to avoid the blind spot of the system you are using , its better to read and understand a lot of systems (self help book) so that you can do something about the blind spot of the current book you are using

After reading 10-25 of the best you will get the gist of it and it becomes pretty repetitive. Nowadays Im bored to death if I read a classical self-development book.

yeah , but further self improvment book will add some wisdom . although return on investment is low and it is diminishing returns

Implementation of the few ideas that will really make a difference in your life is much more important.

if you use a single book , that book has blind spots when implemented.  all books have blind spots. so if you use only single book, it has blind spot and you will falll victim to it

to avoid this , one need to read a lot of books so as to avoid blind spots

It's not a commitment. He just loves what he is doing. If he would not like it he absolutely would do something else instead.

@Leo Gura l know it's hard to believe but my brother is not normal. He is autistic and reads whenever he can. Even if we go to restaurants, driving car, he always has his books with him. He is a super fast reader, I witnessed that he read 2 Steven King books a 600 pages in one day.

Although there were some years where he didn't read that much books (World of Warcraft time), I think 25.000 books is not overexaggerated.

How does that work? Does he raid the bookstore every week? Or the library?

I mean, he does it consistently and seems obsessed with it, so he's clearly committed to it.

Commitment can be based on something you genuinely enjoy.

Commitment is defined to do something no matter what.

He is not committed at all. He just like reading and that could stop as soon as he likes something more.

He has his flaws too, often leaps in spiritual growth comes through being disenchanted with one or the other guru at one time or another

No. You can go kamikaze for your values and have no job no friends no relationships and be happy and dust poor like many monks, sages, ascetics did over time immemorial.

Indeed it is rare today and in the past, not practical in wordly sense, to most ppl not even recommended, but you can go for a meditation retreat fo 10 days or a year and get a glimpse of that without throwing your life away
