No Kings MASS PROTEST on Sat, October 18th

I went to the No Kings protest in Saint Augustine this morning. It's a relatively small town of under 17,000 people in a county with about 360,000 people, and there were over 3000 people there at the protest.

That means about 1% of the county population... or about 17% of the city population was at the protest.

It was held near the fort in downtown Saint Augustine, which is also right next to a very well traveled road right in the middle of the historic area of town. Saint Augustine is the oldest city in America, so the historic area is very well traveled.

And there were tons of people driving by in cars giving positive affirmations as the protesters walked along the sidewalk . It's like every other person in the cars that passed by was honking in support, giving thumbs up, and waving at us.

And there was only one vehicle that passed by with a couple young guys who were briefly like, "Yay Trump!"

This is a ruby red state and a ruby red district, so I expected a little more pushback or pro-Trump messaging from the passers-by, as there are many passers-by (on-foot pedestrians and drivers) in that area of town.

But I was pleasantly surprised that the protest was met with lots of support.

I highly recommend going to one.

Nice!

Expecting Kings to rule. Defeating the purpose.

From now until forever? Why the need to protest forever if there are no kings.

Because Trump posts shit like this and expects no pushback 👇

He doesn’t get it. No one man can be king, president, dictator or whatever else for life in America. It belongs to the People, as laid out in the Constitution.

He tried to undo the People’s will in 2020 (leading to several deaths, I might add.) He’ll try to break the Constitution in 2028 by running for a third term. We aren’t going to let him.

Yes but no need for protest this forever. Will he be around in 2090.

“No Kings Forever” doesn’t just mean Trump. It means that the foundational principles of America are build on people power and democracy, and any would-be tyrant (whether that’s Trump or whatever other asshat after him who tries the same thing) will never succeed in taking over the country.

Democracy is America’s lifeblood. It’s not just a shallow political idea about voting but the very essence of the American character. If America ever had a king, or dictator, or whatever else, it would no longer be America. It’s us, the regular people, who get to say how the country is run.

All I'm saying is he won the popular vote.

And you think that means he's allowed to violate the constitution? Dumb dumb dumb.

I carry a pocket full of this, from my old spark plugs, only for if they get real bad. (I Did not use). But one city, a Trumper got taken down by democrats, he hit some woman and had a gun, he's in jail.

He endangered the institutions because of his conspiracy theories yes but that was more than 5 years ago, I just said that he was democratically elected and that it was a pro-Trump demonstration, not “pro-democracy”.

It sounds like a false excuse or even an accusatory fabrication like calling right-wing people racists, Nazis, or other Manichean adjectives like that.

Indeed you are very very intelligent; not at all just another person here who has no virility irl and takes revenge here via insults.

They are, they voted for Trump in the majority.
This isn't a pro-democracy demonstration, it's an anti-Trump demonstration and therefore rather anti-democratic, in fact.

In my opinion your understanding of democracy seems limited. So resisting hitler would be anti-democratic? Because in your logic he was voted in in a democratic way…my perspecitve of democracy is that the populus is part of the check and balances and not that you vote for a single person and for the next years this person can do whatever he/she wants.

No, he's been ruled by Republican SCOTUS for violating the constitution.

Cry harder.
