Is iPhone 17 worth it?

14 posts in this topic

I’m looking for an upgrade to my 13 and I don’t even need to upgrade. Most of the time it works ok. It is only the battery life that is bothersome. But I rather sell my 13 because it has good resell value. And then just buy the 17 from my carrier which allows me 24 installment payments in the span of 2 years. People say Apple is expensive but the resell value makes up for it. I used my 13 for 3-4 years and I still holds 1/3th of the original price. If I had a crappy Samsung that wouldn’t be the case + all the security and bug issues it has.

I don't really know, but my general stance is that companies design humans in a way that makes them buy the product.

Even though I have a Mac I bought a Pixel 8a to escape the Apple ecosystem. Apple is good for Macs and maybe Tablets, I never enjoyed their iPhone as its just so boring and vanilla. With android its way more custumizable.

The Pixel-a line is really good imo as even this relatively cheap line gets 7 years of software support.

The best value for your money will be in combination with a mobile phone contract. The phone plus the sim with internet and calls are often cheaper then just the phone itself. Look for deals.

Thats true, especially for Apple as they sell a sense of social connection with their phone.

I think the Pixel 8a looks more aesthetic then an iPhone, which helped me to move on.

I had a Samsung for half a year and it was a bad decision. The Notification Center is just a pain in the ass. I want it to work like iPhones system. Sometimes I would hear a notification sound on my Samsung look on the freaking screen and I had no idea from which app the notification came from lol.

Just keep your phone until it becomes actually bad, also the more you wait the better will be the replacement. Instead of an iPhone 17,  you will get the iPhone 19. But just keep in mind how long will the software support of your phone will last and when the apps you use will stop working because of that.

I will be upgrading now.

I currently have an iPhone 12 mini, and it did the new iOS 26 update. Unfortunately, after using the new software for two weeks, it's a hot mess. Literally, I'll be using one app for only a few mins and it'll become a warm turnover.

It's such a shame, since the mini is perfect to handle with one hand. But I cannot do my work with a Pop-Tart.

Oh well.

Your phone is like, “kill me, put me out of my misery” 💀

I think my 12 mini is working a lot smoother after updating to today’s new 26.0.1 update.

Dang it, maybe I should have been more patient, could have waited til next year to update my phone…

I updated from 13 to 17 pro last week and I don’t see major differences. Only camera and battery is significantly better. It is still an ok purchase. I was able to sell my old 13 for 300 euro and the 17 pro I bought for 1050 euro from my carrier. It was a steal that I couldn’t say no to.
