When I was in my teens, I used to lift and could squat and deadlift slightly over 100 kg each at like the age of 16. #flex

Its a cool activity

Daiiiiiiim the way you’ve been talking it sounded like you never exercise today in your life.

wtf??? You can hit your weight loss goals easy if you dial in with an athletic challengers mindset

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

A big problem with this mindset is the constantly "you're a pussy" self-talk. That's not a happy mindset. It's quite repressed, often.

But depending on the life phase you're at, it may be what digs you out the hole and makes you evolve.

It’s very extreme. It can cause distress. There’s only one David Goggins for a reason, it’s not very realistic and achievable for most people. He has a special mind and perhaps even a special brain to be able to be that way. He speaks of how it builds something great mentally, all that grind, that must be a great reward

@Sugarcoat I'm sure it gives him lots of meaning. That must be a big one. Maybe one day something will trigger in his mind and he'll step out of it, chill out and become a hippie lol. Maybe some mushrooms. Could happen

What is fallen energy ? I love her

Id have to disagree there speaking from my experience of intense exercise . So Courtney has the ability to go very deep into the so called “pain cave”.

I mean, she doesn't have a lot of energy; she tends more toward inertia than average.

It's precisely ideal for running.

What I notice when you exercise is that you get to a certain point of intensity where every single step forward is a struggle. And you require a very strong ~conscious focus~ to be moving yourself forward . So dissociating is not possible there, you need ultra focus. Dissociation I would say is possible when it feels easier to run, when it’s more effortless. Not when it gets REALLY intense

I'm not talking about focus, I'm talking about identification with the "body".

Nothing will prevent Willy.

Maybe she seeks that intensity from running

You think that could help deal with the pain?

I noticed that when I was exercising, I could help myself by "distancing myself from the body," from the ego.
Pain becomes just random information to be taken into account or not.

Running is particularly conducive to this; it's less about muscle tone, and therefore about involvement, than about resistance to pain, which is to say the opposite.
If what I'm saying makes sense.

So pain stopped being suffering?

A long time ago, in teenage years when exercising I found the opposite, by focusing intensely on the bodily sensation it made me deal with it better. Also during meditation it happened my ass would hurt from sitting , and by placing my attention intensely on the sensation the pain kinda dissolved.

Yes, we can say it like that.

That's interesting.

It seems conterintuitive to me.

Yes running is essentially about resistance to pain that's what i mean.

Or rather surrendering to it btw, according to the pov.

Nevermind my dichotomy was a lame idea.

I try to embrace the pain of exercise but it’s hard

I think it is a cool thing to try to surpass your physical and mental limits and reach your potential, the question is what is it really worth, as @Schizophonia very accuratelly pointed out, if all that effort goes towards our postmodern narcisistic constructs, ultimately all your self improvement efforts only have meaning so long as the over arching objectives transcend your individual ego and your actions are providing a noticeable benefits to the society, and the society recognizes it as such (i.e. the usefullness). Like, imagine if David Goggins was doing all of this stuff he's been doing but noone really gave a shit about him, he wouldn't be taken seriously at navy seal trainings, etc. Do you think he'd remain so consistent at his efforts? I highly doubt it

He speaks of a mental gain from what he does, like a callous of the mind, mental toughness that seems like internal reward so I think he would be the same if nobody knew of him. I’m not sure though

I could be a bit wrong as well, maybe increasing your potential to it's max, both mentally and physically, reaps it's own rewards regardless of it's value being or not being acknowledged by other people. Or maybe both you and the others are the arbiters of value. It's hard to say. Life is confusing

Yea, I think it could be both. Maybe feeling like you have to maintain your self image in the eyes of others can be a contributing factor
