  1. Whataburger is where it's at. But that's the Texan in me showing.
  2. America is well on its way to having multiple parties in government. You know, like nearly every other functional country on the planet?
  3. Only way to beat trolls is to ignore them. Am I missing something or does this forum really not have an ignore feature? This forum experience would be way better for me if I could put the trolls on an ignore list.
  4. Heart disease isn't contagious, nor is the flu as deadly as COVID, Jesus fucking Christ. It's amazing alt right idiots like this are even allowed here. I've debunked all of your Whataboutisms and now you're backed into the "Well I'm not dying, so I don't care!' You're as selfish and childish as they come.
  5. Did you even click on the link? It also calls out Belarus as having a high excess mortality rate: "Among former republics of the Soviet Union, only Belarus suffered substantial excess mortality in the first wave, after introducing almost no constraints on daily life. The second wave affected almost every country in the region. Russia now has one of the world’s largest excess-mortality gaps. It recorded about 370,000 more deaths than expected between April and December, compared with an official covid-19 toll of only 56,000." You're proven wrong again and again. I could understand if this was March 2020 and you're saying this stuff, but we're well over a year into this and you're spouting stupid nonsense. Learn about the freaking virus already and how it spreads, FFS. Educate yourself, there's no excuse to be this ignorant. Sorry if I'm coming across as rude. I just have little patience for people who speak against the science at this point in the pandemic.
  6. From the link above I posted: "Countries in northern Europe have generally experienced much lower mortality rates. Some Nordic nations have experienced almost no excess deaths at all. The exception is Sweden, which imposed some of the continent’s least restrictive social-distancing measures during the first wave."
  7. Care to tell us what countries are doing fine with no resteictions? You do realize that there is an excess mortality gap in nearly, every country since the pandemic started, right? And you do realize that developing countries and crooked countries (Russia, North Korea) are heavily underreporting their cases, right? https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/coronavirus-excess-deaths-tracker Hell, at one point North Dakota was the per capita COVID hotspot of the world, and they didn't have any restrictions. And that's a sparsely populated chunk of land.
  8. The "But the suicides!" was a major talking point against lockdowns and preventive measures, but that unsurprisingly turned out to be bunk. Suicides actually decreased in 2020. https://www.axios.com/suicide-decreased-in-2020-pandemmic-mental-health-26196eaf-a245-4d21-85eb-eeb864a24449.html
  9. Overall, I see your point and I do mostly agree. We do have to be smarter about who/what to believe. The issue is that these days, people pollute this way of thinking and eschew all the way to the toxic extremes that we see with the mass conspiracy theories. Once upon of time it was actually fun to be a conspiracy theorist. Now with so many normies doing it, it's just tiring. Majority of people need guidance, because when you leave them to their own devices, they'll go down an even darker path than if they just listened to the experts. And there certainly are misguiding and toxic experts whom are easily latched onto.
  10. This is naive and foolish. Experts are who should be listened to/considered most of all. Not the common, average joe who has no idea about any given field they're discussing in. One reason why humans have advanced society to the point it is now is through cooperation and letting the experts do their thing. You don't need to understand and be a professional at everything and at the same time teach others about how every possible thing functions so that our acquired knowledged can be passed on and evolved. We need specialized crafts in areas of science, historians, medicine, engineers etc. in order to function as a large, modern society. It's not ignorant to yield to and trust the experts. In fact, it's the smartest thing you can do. The experts are paid professionals and dedicate their lives to something specific. This allows you free time to do whatever else you want to do.
  11. Following advice from medical experts and scientists is not cult like. In fact, doing the OPPOSITE (what you're doing) is most likely to lead to cult behavior. We don't need to be scientists to use cell phones and other technology. We don't know exactly how they're made or what all is involved. Likewise, we don't need to be scientists to get vaccines.
  12. But let's be real. An out and proud, anti-Christian gay black man is what's really triggering these conservatives. https://twitter.com/LilNasX/status/1376245938226798594 I mean a freaking governor criticizing him, really? For what? Twerking on Satan in a music video? Why do Americans still see the devil as like... Some magical anti-God who can rival God's powers and overtake him if he gets enough followers? Why do we still have this magical thinking? Satan isn't some horned beast and God isn't some bearded sky man. All this to say that I enjoy an attack on the conservative's view on God taking center stage. More of this, please. Hypocritically, it's okay when metalheads glorify this foolish idea of the devil. But when it's a gay black rapper, nuh-uh, no sir. Attack on everything that is holy.
  13. Maybe so, but he's an entertainer and the goal for a person like him is to draw attention. It's amusing that the right is horrified by censorship and cancel culture and people being overly sensitive. Until it's something that they disagree with, then they're back to being the puritanical soccer moms. Like the stupid Republican governor Kristi Noem. How about attacking the voter supression laws passed in Georgia instead of some dude twerking on Satan.
  14. Agreed. This will be more damaging to the republican brand, which is already in flux. I like to give our American society a little more credit, I think our majority is mostly centrists who will see this as an attack on voter rights and democracy. GOP is basically kicking and screaming to stay afloat at this point.
  15. Didn't this guy celebrate the deaths of AIDS victims? May he rest in piss.
  16. If you can't be convicted over a violent coup attempt then there is something seriously wrong with this country. Abolish the senate and abolish the electoral college. Republicans need to pay for siding with a traitor.
  17. I look forward to doing day game (maybe some night game) once the pandemic is over. I think girls will be more receptive than ever.
  18. Don't do either during a pandemic, especially night game
  19. Survival is the name of the game. The Sentinelese will stay stage purple forever. They are cut off from all outside human contact and have no reason to grow out of that stage. They're suriviving just fine.
  20. Republican party had a hiccup with Nixon, but Ronald Reagan was really the start of the downfall of the party. Been getting worse and worse over time. I don't mind conservatism, but I do really hate a party that manufactures anti-science, religious propaganda and fear mongering just to stay in power. The party needs to either adapt to modern times or continue to lose voters.
  21. https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2019/01/17/generation-z-looks-a-lot-like-millennials-on-key-social-and-political-issues/ My source shows rural population shrinking. Suburban areas growing, suburbs are trending democrat. https://www.brookings.edu/research/bidens-victory-came-from-the-suburbs/%3famp And the data I showed about younger generation literally shows they skew democrat. And that urban/suburban areas are growing faster than rural areas, with the former trending more democrat. And yes popular vote matters... As the country skews more democratic so too will the electoral college. Source: my map about younger folks' votes, urban/suburban areas growing in population faster than rural areas, suburbs trending more democratic.
  22. I know it's not instantaneous. Where exactly do you see that Gen Z "might be more conservative than milennials"? Got any sources to back that up? Rural area population is not growing, it's shrinking. Source: https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2018/05/22/demographic-and-economic-trends-in-urban-suburban-and-rural-communities/ Urban/suburban areas trend democratic, and that will always be the case. When people are in a melting pot of different backgrounds and ethnicities, they tend to lean more left than the rural areas that are primarily similar demographics. It's simply an exposure effect. Your claim that Latinos, Asians, and Blacks are going to boost the Republican party is completely unfounded. For one, they are not a monolith. Mexicans heavily support democrat and have always trended that way, and they helped Biden win Arizona. The Cuban population supported Trump and helped him seal Florida, but the Cubans have their own historical beliefs of backing him. With no Trump, there's no reason to believe that certain minority backgrounds are going to continue to support the Republican party. Also, you have glossed over that the Republicans have lost the popular vote 5 out of the last 6 presidential election cycles. This is not a fluke, this trend will continue to get worse for Republicans. No data supports their base growing faster than the demographics favoring Democrats.
  23. Same with your minority claim. Supposedly, both shifted the opposite way, but were not the majority. Look, I'm just looking at the demographic trends with age. Majority of the population who vote Republican are older, and that's a fact Jack. As the younger generations overtakes the older ones over time, it will absolutely lean more democratic. No, milennials aren't going to suddenly become staunch conservative Republicans to counter balance this demographic trend. Texas will eventually go blue, we all know this has been trending that way as its urban populations swell. Arizona might start to trend blue too, Georgia as well. Republican party's only tool is voter supression. They haven't won the popular vote since Bush, anyways. They have lost 5 out of the last 6 populat votes in presidential elections. Time is against the Republicans, not the democrats.
  24. I'm assuming you're sourcing from NYT but I can't read that article because of a paywall. Even if that were true, more white males voted democrat than republican. Either way, no. Mostly boomers vote republican, younger people trend democrat. Republican party is not in position to grow.
