Nahm replied to Monkey-man's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@Monkey-man Yes, there are things you can do. It’s not so much ‘becoming defenseless & being unable to run away’, but more realizing we don’t need to employ defenses, and we don’t need to run away. Take a few minutes or so each day to understand the defenses. Understand how we “maneuver”, and what it actually is we’re “escaping” from. Just 15 minutes a day. That will take the ‘huge responsibility’ feeling out of it. Slow & steady wins the race. Overtime what we have been doing unconsciously is done consciously. Don’t beat up on yourself when you become more conscious of these things. That’s progress, though it may not feel like it initially. It gets difficult, then it gets easier & easier. https://www.simplypsychology.org/defense-mechanisms.html Think if you lived next to a large construction site that was very very loud. Sudden very loud noises. The first day, you’d be caught off guard and have an overwhelmed response. Within a few days though, you’d have no response to the loud sounds, because you would have the understanding that they are sound of the construction site. A point would come where you wouldn’t even be thinking about the loud noises. Same with the defenses. When we aren’t aware of what we’re doing (the mechanisms) things seem “loud”, overwhelming, and we internalize & identify only because we don’t understand. When you get overwhelmed (“strangeness & sense of horror”), breath deeply and slowly from your stomach, and just relax for a few minutes. Go for a walk if possible. Then write about it on paper, try to be articulate about the sensations in your body. Expressing in this way, along with seeing what is being written, will increase emotional intelligence / understanding of sensations. Give that a while, then start spending 15 minutes or so a day understanding the emotional scale. There are many models, but they are mostly similar. http://toc-now.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/feature_image_tejkh7mplate.jpg Without the defensive mechanisms at play, there is more patience. You can work more slowly. From having done the writing down & articulating of emotions, you will have more clarity on what emotion you are experiencing. Use that to isolate approximately what emotion you’re feeling, and just relax and ‘feel for’ the next higher emotion. Express that next higher emotion, verbally, on paper, etc. (If you’re experiencing anger for example, visualize or express revenge...but don’t actually go throw a brick through someone’s window or anything.) Hope that’s helpful. Been there. Not fun. ? -
@SQAAD Haven’t seen the video, yet, sorry. Maybe he means expressing it...vs repressing? (Speculating)

@SQAAD These questions are a reflection of your thinking, write it down and inspect it. How would one ‘work on’ their sexuality, really? I can see working on confidence, socializing, communication in relationships, learning & understanding more about sexuality. If by ‘work on’, you mean explore & express your sexuality, then yes. If you want to have sex, and by ‘work on’, you mean have sex, then yes. Embrace the whole of you. If you mean suppress it, deny it, then no. That to me seems like fragmentation, and I am at a loss as to how that is useful. Just to note, I make a distinction between having or not having sex, and embracing or not embracing one’s own sexuality. Many people have lots of sex without understanding the nature of their sexuality. Assuredly, unfortunately, most people. Some people can not have sex, and understand the true nature of sexuality quite well.

Someone who finds ignorance to be bliss, does not know bliss. Someone who finds religion to be Truth, does not know Truth. One who questions existence, doesn’t know the self. Discover within yourself what you looked for in religion. What good is it to tell you the taste of this green tea latte? I can give you my word that it is delicious, but, pretty sure you’re here to taste for yourself.

@Arhattobe Maybe, but full resonance and golfing at the same time it a pretty tall order. -
Nahm replied to ginger28's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@ginger28 They are the same. The content (words) are different, from different people’s perspectives. It is all the same. You can focus on the candle in the heart, you can focus on breathing from the stomach. In either case, this is letting thinking go, and learning presence. Letting thinking go calms the mind, the developed focus is then for used self inquiry. You can understand things like there is no past, future, here nor there, and the mind is more deeply at peace. You can let even that thinking go as well, and the mind is more deeply at peace. You can self inquire, and the mind will be ultimately at peace. You can let thinking go completely, and the mind will be ultimately at peace. In these ways you can discover who you are, and your essential nature. -

Nahm replied to moon777light's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
@moon777light Contemplate the past & future. Look for it, point to it. Try to hold it. Try to go to the past and bring something with you into the present. Do the same for the future. Stand up and go walk to the past and look at it. Same with the future. Accept very deeply that what you’ve been referring to as “the past” - isn’t there. Your direct experience, is of a thought. See that there is no such thing as “the future”. Your direct experience, is of a thought. The present is your own selfless gift. Do not ask for more. It is enough. -

Every single night. Incredible luck. Inspect diet, & resistant thinking. Meditate & self inquire. Exercise. Stomach breath 24/7. “Energy” is a thought.
