It's simple realism and knowing your limitations. You're not going to be DaVinci without his IQ and God-Given talent. You may be able to get the equivalent of multiple college degrees in whatever fields you're interested in, but that is not the same as being a DaVinci level polymath (or Goethe or even Ben Franklin.)

Being "nice" circumstantially isn't the same as being a "nice guy." You have to be "nice" conditionally; in other words, AS REWARD for a woman's good behavior. The second good behavior stops, you have to stop being "nice." Guys being "nice" when women behave badly is the death of a relationship. She has to be reminded that she is REPLACEABLE in subtle ways.
-
"A nice guy" -- a guy with low self-worth. Typically pedestalizes/idealizes women (this is something women hate even more than mild forms of abuse, which can at least be emotionally engaging for them.) A "nice guy" doesn't have options, therefore his sexual strategy is to "be nice" and of course women easily ascertain this. The reason "women like assholes" is because they perceive that the assholes have OPTIONS, and there is nothing that excites women more than being with a guy other women want to be with. Literally, the #1 textbook attraction switch for women is PRESELECTION.

Therapy is what you make of it, even if the therapist is mediocre. The problem with self-help is that everyone has blindspots. Short of certain psychedelics that can give you insight into them, therapy is the next best thing. That's what you want to be looking for. It's "not knowing what you don't know" that is the real problem. Most people just project that shit and don't even want to deal with it. They are in their own mental-emotional bubble and are coping in unhealthy ways. This is reflected in their shitty personal habits, which are rationalized to the hilt. If you are really bent on self-help, my suggestion would be to ruthlessly eliminate all negative habits (porn, video games, alcohol, etc.) and adopt good ones in their place. The name of the game is BRAIN PLASTICITY.

Unless you have a 150+ IQ, don't bother. You'll be a jack of all trades rather than a true polymath.

LOL. Get fucking serious. This is such typical forum bullshit. Just 'cause you call yourself birdie, doesn't mean you have sprouted wings and can fly. -

Yes. If there is some kind of reified subject, then the awakening is (to quote Leo, haha) incomplete. Enlightenment has no subject, no essential reality. Just drop it - you don't need it. -
SeaMonster replied to vibv's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That's a good point and I absolutely agree with it. While you're fundamentally correct, though, it seems to me that where you are mistaken is labeling a partial realization (where there is reification of a subject in some form, whether it's the Absolute or Brahman or another term like Big Mind) as "enlightenment." But "enlightenment" is where the reification ends. There is no more subject. -

LOL. Perfect recitation of Leoisms. you get an A+. -
I agree in general, but the problem is, many people DON'T adjust, they just stay...schmucky. Reality can be too painful and difficult to swallow for many.

The problem isn't that everyone's philosophy of life is different. The problem is that some people plainly hold false beliefs about what is likely to work for them in being successful as far as whatever their goals are (sex, relationships, marriage, etc.) Your philosophy of life isn't some sancrosanct thing never to be questioned anyway -- it could be something completely at odds with reality and a likely source of much suffering for you. So while you may be right that some advice is kinda superficial and tactical, if you trace the deeper meaning of a lot of it, it is merely reality, or what works.

Yeah, and unquestioningly buying into the beliefs a cult leader espouses is not at all bullshit. -
SeaMonster replied to BlessedLion's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
That you think that one only reads to "gather new beliefs" is very revealing; have you considered that sometimes one reads to dispel erroneously held beliefs? Have you heard of the expression "it's difficult to reason someone out of something they were never reasoned into"? Do you even understand what critical thinking is, or is it all just drinking the kool-aid with you? -
SeaMonster replied to BlessedLion's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
LOL. You're "realizing it" without reading it while your only source of information is Leo's. That's the definition of a cult follower - sorry, not sorry. -
SeaMonster replied to BlessedLion's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
LOL. "Survival mode" is another bullshit Leoism; totally nonsensical. Can you hold a conversation on these topics without using concepts that you learned from Leo's content? Maybe educate yourself a little by going to sources for various spiritual traditions? Or is that too much work for you? It's not mindboggling to me at all, in fact it's pretty obvious. His early content was well-presented distillations of spiritual/nondual knowledge from other sources, that you could go to on your own and read. He has a gift for taking this kind of content and presenting it in a charismatic manner. The trouble is, his ego was never going to be satisfied with that kind of restraint, so he had to go full-on psychedelic megalomaniac. What does enlightenment have to do with any of that? What would lead one to believe that he has any motivation towards that end? There is too much ego investment there. -
SeaMonster replied to BlessedLion's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
You're more likely to "experience Alien Intelligence" after being on the receiving end of an anal probe on a spaceship than from Leo's next, greatest novel content. -
SeaMonster replied to BlessedLion's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
LOL. I guarantee you've drunken the kool-aid and Leo is just a psychedelic fantasist. Leo: Buddhists don't know what Love Is. Umm, Leo, I guarantee you don't know wtf Buddhism is. They would say "Love" is a reification of experience and they would be right, but because you're so attached to your "philosophizing" (i.e. mental fapping) you can't even conceive of a level where such silly things are discarded. -
This is all very nice -- they've taught you how to deconstruct your methodologies a bit. How are you actually going to apply that deconstruction to become a better scientist, considering much more important limiting factors that I mentioned below? Have they taught you that and will they? If they really wanted to make you better scientists, they would teach you Sociology of science, History of science, Politics of science, Ethics of science, etc. Paradigm busting is a political/sociological matter much more than a scientific one. Are you and your colleagues ruthless and Machiavellian enough to pursue that? I don't know if it's what you had in mind going for your graduate degree. Pretty much anything where you're not professionally obligated to lie in some manner (whether it's actively or by silence or omission or pretending to believe in something you know is not true.)

We have to accept the reality that women are not going to do anything about it, and there will always be some percentage of white knight/simp/blue pill types who want to keep "being themselves." One can only exact a social cost on the white knight/simp type, but expecting them to change is hoping for too much. Otherwise I see nothing wrong with the 4 steps. "Stop simping" should be what "stop snitchin'" is for the ghetto. Something not merely said, but that extracts a real world cost for violations (in terms of shunning.)
-
@mr_engineer Creating or joining simp-free men's social circles dedicated to mutual support, rational problem solving and growth seems like a good first step for any guy who is isolated. What men need is to shun and ostracize white knight/simp/cuck/beta mindset guys who enforce the femcentric view of things. These guys are of no help, and often of considerable harm.

LOL. Not serious enough to contemplate bullshit. -
SeaMonster replied to Andrea Bianca's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I'm sorry Andrea -- this is all vanity. You are not conscious of your motivations to be "Good"; no-one is. You have to understand that you have an unconscious mind driving things and that the conscious/ego is just a bag of rationalizations/deceptions. -
What the trip probably meant is that your CONCEPTS of God and Consciousness are imprisoning you. In other words, the message is for you to stop MINDFUCKING yourself.

SeaMonster replied to De Sade's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
LOL. This is not to be "understood" intellectually, you have to have a non-dual realization. You can't brainwash yourself into something comparable to enlightenment; you're still unenlightened, you just have cognitive dissonance. If you want to tackle body image, make changes in your life that will improve it. -
SeaMonster replied to Fountainbleu's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
I actually disagree with you on this one. Most people need serious motivation to awaken and having your life suck donkey balls is suitable for this purpose. Plenty of famous examples of depressed, suicidal, poisoned, ill, jailed, betrayed, sexually violated etc. (i.e. people in dire straits) awakening. If your external life is semi-ok, the ego can get complacent.
