  1. I know that @Danioover9000 made a thread about maturity and Immaturity, but I noticed a lot more examples of immaturity than maturity on that thread. Some of the time it was people posting a mix of both which I thought was very confusing. It was almost starting to feel like people were just taking the opportunity to call other people immature which is pretty ironic so I decided to make a thread of exclusively for examples of maturity.

As a reminder here are some of the main indicators of maturity as per Leo's video:

    - Mature people willingly take on responsibility and make sacrifices in order to do what they know they need to do.
    - Mature people face the truth willingly, especially difficult truths.
    - Maturity people adhere to a set of values and act beyond their own self-interest.
    - Mature people refrain from emotional manipulation or otherwise getting things from people the easy way.

I have 2 examples to share here.

The first example I have is from the movie "Gandhi" where he displays exceptional maturity by following his values unwaveringly and stands up for what he knows is right despite knowing the pain he will have to endure as a result. For anyone who has not watched the movie I highly recommend it. The story of Gandhi is one of the most inspiring of all time.

The second example is a compilation of the character Jean Luc Picard from the series "Star Trek: The Next Generation". I thought this was a great example because of the quote Leo gave at the beginning of his video. The Next Generation specifically is perhaps one of the most philosophical and forward thinking sci-fi shows ever. Again, I highly recommend the series to anyone who likes philosophy or self actualization work. It is also entertaining!

I am excited to see your own examples of Maturity!

The problem with the people in the video is they are asking whether it is true....they haven't realized it is true because of self-bias. When you awaken you actually are confused why some of the smartest people on the planet haven't awoken....then you realize that their self-bias limited their intelligence. The more self-bias you are the more you limit your capacity to learn.

Did you watch the video? If you didn't, you should. It's very good. If there's anyone who thinks things through and has limited self bias it's physicists.

  3. I think that consistently practicing what you want to get good at is much more important than being in peak performance during your practice session. It is quite conceivable that you are simply getting tired after doing so much in one day. In my opinion as long as you keep up with your work consistently then you can achieve what you want. If you really want to see your life from a bird's eye view, I would recommend journaling every day and writing down your thoughts about your life. This will give you time to really think through what you are doing and how you are doing it. The other thing you can do is travel (if you can). Getting away from what you are doing for a short time can allow you to see your life from a new perspective and make certain things much more clear to you in regards to how you should live your life.

  4. I think as long as you are honest and the new values you are adopting are your highest values, it is healthy to change them. From what it sounds like to me you may be going from stage green to stage yellow. 6 years is a long time. Generally I find myself to be a completely different person from who I was just 5 years ago. Your values changing is a sign of growth. Also, I don't know why you would have to give up connection and honesty in order to have excellence and mastery. They could go hand in hand.

  5. Can I ask what you need better ideas for? What kind of creative thing are you perusing?

Also, I think traveling is a great way to think in new ways. It puts you in a new environment and break you out of recurring thought patterns. It's very psychedelic-like in my experience. Especially traveling to national parks or other places away from society. Make sure to journal a lot whatever you decide to do. Creativity requires both brainstorming/thinking and experience/practice.

  6. You may want to consider a degree in computer science if you are interested in programming. You could then get a remote software engineer job and travel while earning a good living. You could go and try to learn programming without a computer science degree but I would recommend going the college route if you can. Either way don't keep banging your head into a wall with the business degree because that is just a waste of time and money for you. If you quit college I see no reason that would affect your traveling possibilities, at least if you live in America, and probably any other part of the world too.

  7. I'm an undergrad getting a degree in physics and math. I'm sorry to say that it takes longer that 1 or 2 years to get to a point where you can do physics professionally even if you are some kind of super mega genius. I think that shouldn't stop you though if that's really what you want to do. Learning math and physics is very rewarding in its own right even if you don't get to a point where you have mastered it. I don't know what kind of financial obligations you have, but I would recommend enrolling in a university and participating in a research lab if you want to work in physics. You could probably make some good contributions to science within 7 years.

Unless you find some super quick way to make lots of money, the only way you could do philanthropy is to do volunteer work or something of the like. In my personal experience this is much more satisfying than donating money.

For me, these feelings of being socially awkward, are just the voices of my parents who would always tell me that I did this wrong and that wrong and so on and so on. This made me adopted a pattern where I'm constantly over-analyzing everything I say and do in social scenarios. What has helped me is to become aware of how I had subconsciously adopted the thought patterns so that I could then make the conscious decision to change how I talk to myself. It's a slow process because it also requires one to work through all the trauma/karma that is associated with these thought patters, which can be emotionally taxing, but the result will be that social interactions will be less emotionally taxing in general.

This might not resonate with you personally. This is just my little anecdote.

This is actually exactly what happened with me.

  10. This is a video that I believe brings up valid issues with Actualized.org:

This is my comment under the video:

[I'm going to sound like an actualized (get it) internet soy brainwashed wojack by saying this, but Leo has had a big positive influence on my life personally. I'm going to try to justify some of his actions in this comment.

First thing I should say is he is entirely unequipped to handle the problem of THREE PEOPLE committing suicide as a direct result of his videos. His whole attitude towards the topic is atrocious, and he absolutely needs to come up with a more effective means of preventing such events in the future, along with protocols to follow if suicide is a possibility for one of his followers. He changes what he says all the time about how life and spirituality works and whatnot but rarely acknowledges such contradictions in his videos. He also blames his followers for not accepting or understanding properly what he his saying which is absolutely the WRONG thing to do. He justifies this attitude by saying he is simply not tolerating people's ignorance but even if he is the all powerful enlightened master of the world, this is still an unwise approach. I also don't like his views on dating and the whole manosphere side of him. This is something that can be done away with I think.

That being said, I am here to propose that not only are his teachings correct (when understood properly), they also have a huge potential for positive impact on the world, and already have helped many people. For me personally, it was his videos that got me OUT of the "athiest vs. theist" mentality that Thunderfoot pedals in his videos, which I watched a lot of. He gave me a new perspective on spirituality, religion, and a new way to think about life in general. He also instilled in me a very serious sense of open-mindedness and cognitive discipline (as I would call it). An ability to question beliefs of all kinds to a level that is not normally even thought possible among most people. I have taken a few doses of magic mushrooms at the inspiration of Leo and have had have had huge benefits (I will not go into the specifics). I did outside research on the affects of psychedelics on the human mind, potential negative effects, and was very careful while taking the doses to ensure nothing tragic would happen (which is a very real possibility if the right precautions are not taken, and is something I believe Leo should emphasize more).

On the apparent pedophilia justification and mother fixation:

Pedophilia is used as an example in his work because it is pretty much the most appalling  topic he can think of. He uses this to try to back up the point that morality is human-centric and created by humans, and there is nothing universally objective about it. He does not make his assertion about the made-up nature of morals simply to justify pedophilia. He definitely was very rude and immature to Kevin, and I have no idea how he expects that behavior to convince more people of his own assertions. IDK what the pedophilia symbol thing is about though. I definitely hope he did not do that on purpose. If he is a pedophile that would make me very sad.

The mother thing is also him using the topic of mothers to make one of his points. Most people hold their mother very near and dear to them in their hearts. He is encouraging people to question even their most sacred of beliefs in order to stop being attached to the ones the hold that are false and holding them back from further spiritual understanding.

As far as the whole enlightenment, "I am god" thing is concerned, I would encourage anyone reading this to not instantly reject such statements merely because they are wacky and outrageous. Take the attitude of "It's probably false, but I'm going to try to at least understand what he is saying". It won't hurt to just consider new ideas, and you can always go back to the sane mainstream once you are done.

For those who's lives have been negatively affected by Leo's teachings, I want to say that while they can be positive, he definitely is irresponsible giving such black and white, life altering statements to such a wide audience that could include children and people with mental illness. Especially the topic of psychedelics. That stuff is way more dangerous than he says. He needs to be much more responsible with his platform. He always says to take his teachings with skepticism and not accept them blindly, but he should have realized by now that this is not enough to prevent people ruining their lives using his ideas.]

Let me know your guys' thoughts.

  11. Read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. Super good advice that I think you will find very useful. Basically what you will read is to take a genuine interest in people. Also some good advice is to find friends to hang out with outside of work (they can be from your work) and hang out with them regularly. Also, eat well, exercise, keep up with your hygiene, get a good haircut, and wear clothes that fit. These things will all make you feel more comfortable in your own skin and confident.

I had issues with social awkwardness and the thing that really solved it for me was the things I just told you. The friends were the most important thing for me. They taught me that I'm actually a normal person and I just have to think of myself as a normal person in order to be one.

  12. I am assuming you don't like an office environment because it's creatively restrictive and unproductive. I assume that you are fine sitting in one place for a long time, or staring at a book or a computer screen for a long time, as long as it is an interesting subject. I would suggest becoming an academic because you can often find a way to be fairly independent in your work while still having a fairly financially stable job. That or maybe something like a writer or philosopher, but this isn't really a good source of income most of the time.

  13. Currently a university student studying physics and mathematics. I want to go to grad school and get my Ph.D. but Idk if I will get in to one. Plan B is to become a machine learning engineer by building off of my current programming skills and using online resources to learn. Currently I live off of money from my parents and a couple part-time jobs. I'm pretty happy with my current trajectory. My advice is to follow something that you find interesting and challenging so you can be invested and grow into a better person.  You don't have to know what your life purpose is right now, but chances are you know the general direction of where you should go. Follow that direction and more ideas will come later on.

From my research it seems like being a surgeon is the most sure-fire way to help a ton of people in a really meaningful way. If you want a job that helps people, make sure you are directly involved in actually impacting their lives. You can't really help people from a distance like some engineers, academics, lawyers, or politicians think they can (not to say that it's impossible to to help people directly with these skills). I'm pretty young and have not started the career I want to yet (I'm still in college), but I have been tutoring for a while and I have found that very rewarding because I get to directly help people with their course work and with succeeding in college. It's happier and has heightened my self-esteem a lot.
