  1. I mean you are right but that is not something new. It's like saying simbabwe will hardly make it to the moon because they don't have the foundations. Well yes. The next step is why and are there faster ways to get higher? Some places like Tibet, India, Thailand have meditation in their culture. It helps somewhat but not too much. Life is messy and meditation seems to be a way for the few. I think spirituality is not reasonable at all because it kills the will to make kids and life. You become nihilistic relativistic basically. It does kind of go against how we think nature works.
  2. It's all about chain reaction. The US is a social construct. If you take away the pillars and try to replace it you make a bet. You want more justice? You might want to get rid of the US. It is an empire. You have to destroy the US basically. So envision that. How do you think it will look if there is no US anymore? If it looks good go for it.
  3. Bring in some millions of refugees from Afghanistan and middle east and Africa. Then it gets really "divers"
  4. I mean something else. The different groups are in general in a cease fire. They know they want more but they live in a compromise. If one group starts to get "greedy" it creates a chain reaction like with gang wars. Struggle do dominate. So even if you think you are right. There are people who can make it much worse. That is why Sam Harriss started to believe the US is heading to the Weimar Situation. Things back fired hard by trying to overthrow "tyranny". Life is hard sometimes it seems like hell. A compromise between Stockholm Syndrom and war. Ah yes and the hope for utopia.
  5. Who can do it? Is it even possible? Like herding cats? It's not even that diverse in many US cities. Put in some more orthodox communists, orthodox muslims, tribals and things will get a little bit more challenging.
  6. They don't ask because there are no answers. After the why it never ends another why will come. So he has to answer the why with some random answer as he has to make a decision. Lost in the why is not always a fun way to live. Actually I guess often people come to the why's because they are miserable and don't see other options. The whys broght Adam in trouble in the first place. The whys can become a disease.
  7. One reason I can rationalize wasting time with politics is because there are similarities between political systems and personal systems. Think about it. Basically a person is a social construct. He has to develop principles, patterns and policies how to deal with the outer world and the inner world like countries do. You can even use some models from political system in people. Actually you can say the systems mirror people. Also vice versa. Like in the chicken and egg problem. So basically you might have a democratic way of dealing with your inner world. You might have a fascist way of dealing with it. You might be fluctuating. So the political system can be a objectifying and mirroring of our thinking. With that it is easier to analyse it as it is enough seperated from us. We can easier research it in a unbiased way.
  8. Spirituality is basically playing and experimenting with the mind in the hope you will find something out. Like with some sciences I guess there is a dead end. It's good to realize it early on otherwise you wasted time and energy that you will not get back and regret it. Or worse as you are too invested you make a cult of it as you don't have a life anyway.
  9. If you think this government is a Tyranny you might want to check the definition of Tyranny. In the US there is still democracy. By that logic every group can say the government is a Tyranny and start fighting against it. You might very much look like a terrorist very fast. It's normal that in a country like the US millions of people are angry. It's a mess to govern such a big country with opposite views on everything. You can not herd cats. It's basically impossible. The right size for a country seems to be 8 million people. The US is an empire. What can you expect from an empire?
  10. Democracy is only good for swiss people. Let's try Epistocracy like in Jason Brennan's book "Against Democracy":
  11. When you take away the giants you fall down or you spiral magically higher I don't know. The higher you rise the harder you fall. We know that from Ikarus.
  12. Most people are comfortable in the lower stages of maslow's pyramide. Why work hard to get higher for no obvious reason if you don't have to? Life is short. Progressives are obsessed with progression even if regression looks them in their face I guess.
  13. You seem to be very optimistic. Good luck with that. Many countries in the world don't seem to be interested in integrating standard women into the society but you think it's reasonable to just put more challenges on top of it with 1 billion new genders. That does not look very practical but who am I to know that? We will see.
  14. So I make a quick note to self shame me so I get more motivation. As I failed yesterday I had to do a reset. I mainly focused on meditation and work. Work was ok not enough but it's a new beginning again. So I skaled back from my other routines as well. I love theses routines but it seems that my brain does not have the capacity to process all of the activities. My willpower burns out it seems. Anyway I might write later again. I want to just put some public pressure on me.
  15. The woke left increases the speed for a more woke society. It gets so fast. Amazing. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/27/loreal-to-remove-words-like-whitening-from-skincare-products
  16. Yes maybe but you wrote problematic I didn't write problematic. That is what you wrote and understood. I tried to describe the high energy of the woke left. Well the left is quite a diverse group. Of course some of them reach spectacular results like in this case so it's worse mentioning and I didn't even say something negative about it. I did applaud their energy and creativity. They are 2 steps ahead of everybody else it seems. That is noteworthy. I like thinking in perspectives. I can identify temporarily with different groups. So I am a lefty myself sometimes I guess.
  17. Actually there was a time where I felt like I have no time for it. For many years I have more time now and integrated novel reading into my routines. The effect is very strong. The level of communication abilities gets much higher. Same with the level of understanding things. It' s quite massive. Though I had to adjust some things to make it effective without them it would not helped me much I guess. You become a much better story teller and look for people who have higher level of story telling. I think that stories are the natural way we learn things. I believe in the future we will have better stories where we can learn thing much better. Same as in YT videos and learning apps. Some of them are much better than real teachers.
  18. Allright. I lost the game today. I got too hedonistic did some fun things and got addicted. So not much done today. Anyway tomorrow is another day and I will try to get back on the horse. I did listen to Sam Harriss today. He dealt with the situation in the US. It felt like he is an European guy trapped in the US where he does not belong. With a president that disgutsts him. With people he can not vibe I guess. Btw. I did my reading and 6 Karaoke's. That was nice.

  20. Today I would say was again victory. Well even small victories are victories. I did around 30 plus minutes of work. That is quite a bit for me. I did also my Karaoke and reading. All good so far. I did some other routines that are more fun. So I am quite ok with the day. Something I am planning to do is to read some journal of others here. Some are really top notch. Let's see if I can raise my brain level. The crux with that is that thinking can become unfunny pretty fast. So I have to figure out to do it without getting depressed. Finding the sweat spot.
  21. @electroBeam In this case it's about cities that are run bei the Democratic Party in the US vs. the cities run by the Republican Party. The bigger picture is ok in the discussion too I guess. edit: changed the title
  22. It was a good day regarding my duties. I did pretty good. This system with walking in the room and inner counting numbers seems to be a good method to warm up for the boring work. I hope I can keep my routine where I don't surf in the internet till lunch time. I feel like I may get cocky and do it in the hope it will work out but it does not. I had this alot. I feel like big part of self improvement is doing what Odysseus did when he wanted to withstand the Sirens that is getting tied up to the mast. Other than that I did my 6 karaoke songs. I did 25 minutes of loud novel reading and some other routines.
  23. Allright let's get to the second day and round. I am happy with this day. Recently I regressed regarding my duties that is things that resemble work like organizing, cleaning, laundry, basically the boring things. So I did around 20 minutes today. I used a new technic or tactic if you will. I already had this one technic where I just do my work for 1 minute and make a note that I did it and then I do again 1 minute and so on. I tried higher amounts before but it failed so I have this micro approach. It seems that was not easy enough so I have an additional technic. In general I do many 1 minute meditations. This time after it I did 1 minute walking in the room with inner counting. I did that many times before I even did my first 1 minute work. So this worked this time. Let's see how it will work later. I wake up at 4.00 am. I was happy that I didn't do internet surfing till 1 pm. That is important as I get lost in the forums.
  24. If you feel or think it's legit you may or may not try to convince others. Some will not be convinced and for them it is not a legit question. Not everybody has to care about it. It does produce also outrage with progressives who think everybody has to accept the new model. Specially when you identify ( being invested) as being a progressive. If the "idiots" get outraged because of their simplifications so what? You never even know if the "idiots" are right in the bigger picture too. Specially from a relativistic deterministic perspective "change" does not matter. In a relativistic perspective you can never be right anyway. In the video zahabi makes a good point that science basically is historical patterns. Yes most human knowledge seems to work in some ways. Sometimes if you want to learn something new you have to unlearn what you know. What we know creats a filter for the things we want to learn. So basically we can not know what we don't know. So it's hard to be certain about what is "legit". We are basically puppys playing around imho.
