If what's 'imaginary' is indistinguishable from what's 'real', then it doesn't matter which perspective I take. Science is real, because it's really imagined that it is. If it's imagined that it's not real.. then it isn't. It's as real as the trees, which are also being imagined right now.

Presumably, in order to do something, such as 'walk to the store', we have to 'try to walk to the store'. We might notice though, that 'trying' is also something that we do. Is 'trying' something we do that without trying? Or do we have to try to try?

Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky. What a great turn of events. You now have eight horses!” The farmer again said, “Maybe.” The following day his son tried to break one of the horses, and while riding it, he was thrown and broke his leg. The neighbors then said, “Oh dear, that’s too bad,” and the farmer responded, “Maybe.” The next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people into the army, and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. Again all the neighbors came around and said, “Isn’t that great!” Again, he said, “Maybe.” The whole process of nature is an integrated process of immense complexity, and it’s really impossible to tell whether anything that happens in it is good or bad — because you never know what will be the consequence of the misfortune; or, you never know what will be the consequences of good fortune. — Alan Watts Often we labeled situations as “bad” if we hate it. And “good” if we like it. But the bad cannot exist without the good, and vice versa. Whatever happens in our life, we’ll never be sure of the consequences it may bring in the future. -
I guess my mom prepared me well.. she had 18 years to do it. Sink or swim.

I used to wonder if there was really anything happening beyond my experience of it. Like, if I can't see (experience) what's in the next room, is there really anything happening in the next room, or does it only manifest when I go looking for what's there? Hmmmm... -

@An young being recognize that thoughts of the past, or thoughts of the future, are occurring now. The trick is to not identify as these thoughts. -

I get a good chuckle whenever it occurs to me that the only thing I ever do is 'be myself', and I never have to try to do it. -

Imagine EVERYTHING all at once. Can you do it? If you were EVERYTHING, would you know it? Perhaps one possibility, among infinite possibility, is imagining limitations, or 'pretending' that everything is not everything, but rather.. that it is 'something'. -

Here is another example of LOA, as described by Henry Ford. "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right,” -

Yes, this is a silly notion of what 'LOA' means, if you think it is the power to just imagine something and have it instantly appear before you. -

@Beginner Mind if you have no idea where you are going.. any path will get you there. don't confuse 'law of attraction' with 'the power of 'instant manifestation'. Think of it more like this.. If I decide I want to learn Japanese, for example, once I decide that's what I want, the opportunities for me to learn Japanese will present themselves (I will notice them).. I won't instantly learn Japanese, but the path becomes clearer. If I have no idea where I want to go, how will I know what path to take to get there? Law of Attraction is all about clearly understanding what you want, so you can recognize the path that will get you there. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." Paulo Coelho Don't take my word for it.. this is something you can experiment with and notice for yourself. -

@Beginner Mind how can you take steps to make what you want happen, if you don't first know what you want? -

Notice that all 'objects' exist to you 'subjectively'.. (to whom or for whom do objects exist? some subject). Then notice that your subjective experience, objectively exists. Something is happening right now. That you are having some 'subjective experience', is objectively true. -

@Endangered-EGO If I'm always being myself effortlessly, what else is there for me to do but 'be myself', which I'm always doing? It seems silly to me to suggest that a tree might use it's 'lack of trying to be a tree' to be a 'better' tree. -
Sometimes this thought occurs: Of course the organism called "Mason Riggle" is doing things, like typing this sentence, digesting food, growing hair, thinking thoughts, etc., It also occurs, that one of the things the organism called "Mason Riggle" sometimes does is recognize that the organism "Mason Riggle" is doing these things all by itself. The 'awareness of what my organism is doing', is just something else my organism is doing all by itself. It seems that "I", this 'awareness', the knower who knows this, is also just something else my organism is doing. Is there anything that this awareness does, other than 'be aware'?

Mason Riggle replied to Mason Riggle's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God
Yes. It seems rather, that 'I' is something that occurs, rather than something that 'does things'. Similarly, there is no 'tree' inside a tree that has to 'try to be a tree'.. trees just 'are trees', effortlessly. I never have to 'try to be myself', I just am always 'being myself'. If I ever try not to be myself, then that is 'what I'm doing', which is just more 'me being me', and I do that effortlessly.
