  1. I can't remember the source of where I heard this story... I think it was from a video of his friends talking about his passing some short time after he died. I think the last few years were tough for him and he was a man who was living in turmoil. He was heavily invested in his time-wave theorum which was all tied in with that strange software, the I-Ching and 2012. I think he was really distraught that he wouldn't be around until 2012 to see what would happen. I heard even the scan of his tumour came up in a mushroom shape. I think until the very end he was in some kind of confusion or struggle, but just before he died - like on his death-bed before he passed suddenly some kind of light or clarity came upon him and he said something to the effect of "oh, it was about love. that's what it's been, it's all about love!"
  2. Has faceless found his soul-mate???
  3. I had a tedious factory-hand job years ago and I would do mantra repetition during the tasks. So when I was wiping or sanding - 'Ram... Ram.... Ram.... Ram...' with the intention of maintaining a focused and embodied awareness. Also during lunch breaks I would take a few minutes to sit elsewhere and do some kriya pranayamas. Taking even just a few minutes by yourself to do breath-work can be really re-energizing. On a practical level I highly recommend doing some kind of breath-work. What you want to get out of your day is going to come down to your intention The most powerful and important thing you can do is to simply set your intention in the morning before you go to work and then to evaluate how you did before you go to bed. The specific exercises, techniques or behaviors that you need to adopt in order to grow or achieve your end goal will become realized naturally and over time once you are firm in your intention. Intention sets cascading levels of priority and focus which automatically asserts itself as long as you hold the intention in mind. Your intention must be meaningful and important to you. 'building awareness' may be a bit too vague, but if it's meaningful to you and you have a clear idea of what that means, then it can work. Once you set your intention clearly and re-establish it every morning, you'll find youself discovering appropriate techniques that will help you achieve your aim. Once your intention is strongly set and routinely revisited, everything else becomes placed within a certain context and it becomes a lot clearer which behaviors are going to set your compass in the direction of your aims and which aren't. The intention itself is more important than the actions. You can practice good techniques, but if your intention becomes vague, automatic or fuzzy then you will think you're practicing but really you are just going through the motions. Some examples of intentions are: Be kind to people and/or to be of good cheer To seek to become mindful of boredom and penetrate it at its source To increase awareness of negative emotional patterns To place more awareness into my body To devote my fruits of my work-labour to a higher power (god, society, an avatar, to your own goal)
  4. Is this one of those strange loops that Leo talks about?
  5. You can learn and practice Isha Kriya from home right now. This video is all you need to start a powerful practice.
  6. I don't think there's any step by step yoga in the book - I believe that's what his courses and initiations are for.
  7. I have noticed myself that a lot of his followers are young and disillusioned people who have a lot of anger and frustration without a way to deal with it. He is someone who appears strong and seems to be able to counter the forces that a lot of people project as the reason for their discontent in life. If you notice a lot of content involving him that becomes popular on youtube is grounded in energies of retribution, anger and righteousness. It's content like 'Jordon peterson absolutely DESTROYS journalist' or 'dismantles feminists on their own show'. I think it gives them a clearer enemy that they can channel meaning and energy into, and they bang the drum of self-justified vitriol through 'justice' and 'truth' because it is a much more comfortable direction than the apathy that defined them before. I don't think this is true for all of his followers, and I don't really have much of an opinion on him personally but that's been my observation of one aspect of his online following presence.
  8. Reminds me of this great chapelle bit (starts at 1:00)
  9. I think SSRI's or anything with maoi's can have potentially undesirable effects when combined with certain psychedelics - it's going to be a case by case thing. It is always wise to start at low doses and work your way up over weeks or months to see if there are any negative interactions. Some people report that the effect of the psychedelic is just weakened so that's not too bad. Anecdotally from internet research it's not an 'absolute no-no' but you should do your own studying in regards to the specific medication you're taking. Answering your main question isn't really easy. For some people it is going to be OK to take high doses alone and some find it preferable that way, but it comes with its risks and I don't think it's a wise idea unless you have a decent amount of previous experience with the substance. A lot if it comes down to what kind of person you are and if you're relatively stable. There are some people that shouldn't do psychedelics at all, let alone in high doses alone. Also, define high dose? Do you need to a high dose anyway? There's a whole lot to be experienced between just 2 to 3.5g
  10. fun fact: Some lyrics from the final track of The Beatles record 'Revolver' are taken and quoted directly from the popular commentary/translation of this book by Tim Leary, Ralph Metzner and with help from Richard Alpert (later to become Ram Dass). Their book took the text and converted it into a framework for using psychedelics for spiritual growth.
  11. trumps just a puppet the puppet-master has been hiding in plain view all along

  16. is there a single human journey that doesn't have periods of suffering? after the honey-mood period of any methodology, practice or path, inevitably there are dry periods that test the will. usually the more you're convinced you had it figured out, the harder you'll fall. the human spirit is ridiculously enduring though. you'll think you're at the end of your rope and ready to give up, but more than likely you'll stick around and be revitalized by whatever inevitably comes next. maybe it's a test, but I wouldn't be so sure. it's maddening to endure suffering without having a way to make sense of it, and looking at it as though it is a challenge is a way for the mind to breathe again because it can start attaching familiar meanings and frameworks. It becomes a lot more A-B-C because every challenge must have a solution, and if it is a challenge then you now have an object to pursue, but what if there is no answer where you're looking for one?
  17. theoretically, maybe but you just want to play videogames without feeling bad about it
  18. It's a very positively oriented way to live, and a very useful way to contextualize difficulties... has definitely made my life a lot more satisfying.
  19. Links should be fine, I've been following Tom on the periphery ever since I was exposed to MBT a few years ago. He is a unique and wonderful figure. I like how in his model it all ultimately boils down to 'growing up to become love' by making good decisions and ridding yourself of fear.
