  1. college classes! strategy for acing it! • my college classes have started. it's been going quite well. i've come up with a strategy to develop a study habit. >> study each subject 5 min a day. << it's a deliberate babystep. something that i can do every single day, even if my bad days. and it's been giving me good results. oftentimes, i end up studying more. but just this daily contact with each subject helps a lot. pandemic, lockdown • my country is doing horribly with the pandemic. there's very few vaccines, and the situation is chaotic. that has been tough. i fear the possibility of losing a loved one. and also the lockdown is very challenging mentally. but i'm trying not to worry too much, and focus on the variables that i can control. sleep schedule • i've been able to wake up early for my college classes. problem is, when i don't have to wake up early, i end up going to sleep really late. so i will try to never sleep beyond 1 AM. Maybe i'll go down to midnight. Yesterday I freaking slept at 5:30 AM! This is preposterous. Not healthy at all.
  2. I think you're overestimating the power of direct experience. It looks like it's moving, right? But it isn't. Our senses can fool us. So the scientific method is an attempt to be more objective.
  3. Specifically for morning routines, I think the one I mentioned is a good one. It can give you some ideas. The only thing I dislike about that book is the extraordinary claims he makes, which ends up setting a completely unrealistic expectation.
  4. I would add that the thing about suicidal ideation/depression — if left untreated — is that it comes in waves. So there might be some stability for a while, but sooner or later it'll come back and probably stronger.
  5. Set an intention. Take a small dosage. Don't do it if you're on a bad mood, or if you don't feel safe in the environment you're in.
  6. That's pretty silly
  7. You need a good psychiatrist!!! ASAP
  8. Have you read the book "The Morning Miracle"?
  9. You need both. Spend time with others, and then have moments of introspection. Being alone for too much time is extremely toxic.
  10. a substance that can make you trip
  11. I think this is an ineffective and unhealthy strategy. You don't put out a fire with more logs. You put out it with water. Human connection and bonding is an innegotiable human need.
  12. Yes! I think the goal should not to annihilate the ego, but to have a healthy one. mother nature developed the ego in us for a reason...
  13. @twoosees i think that cannabis these days could be classified as a psychedelic, because they can be very potent. why did you stop? do you plan to use those types of substances in the future?
  14. Exactly. "The only way to reach God is to learn how to be human."
  15. Don't forget to also be open-minded. During a period in my life, I was adamant in my belief that psychedelics were the key to unleashing infinite freedom ("enlightenment"). Whoever criticized what I was doing (that is, tripping every weekend), I would immediately get defensive and I would block what the other person was saying. That also happened with meditation. I used to meditate 4 hours a day. And I couldn't see how that was actually hurting me.
  16. The way you were expressing yourself instantly reminded me of hypomania/mania. Have you ever taken any medication for that? Lithium or something?
  17. I don't get it. In what way is music hurting you?
  18. Do you work/study?
  19. I can relate to what you're saying. I used to not believe that I could live a happy & normal life. But it is definitely possible. The key is to find good professionals.
  20. That's a very important & tricky topic. I guess you develop this sense through trial and error. A therapist or a trustworthy friend can also help with that. I highly recommend this episode: (And also the book that Leo cites in that video).
  21. interesting. i hope this gives you good results
