  1. I mean, maybe, I don't have a law degree and don't have the experience of the prosecutor. I did read from https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/charges-against-officer-suggest-george-floyd-s-death-unintended-n1224731 The distinction between third-degree "depraved mind" murder and second-degree manslaughter is that manslaughter is an unintentional killing that results from a reckless act, one that disregards a risk of harm. Also - it says his predicate felony would be "third-degree assault".
  2. Your confidence always amazes me. You go from, 3rd degree murder "seems like" the proper charge(you aren't even sure of your own quick response)...to: People who are calling for a higher charge are not being objective. The prosecutor called for a 2nd degree charge.
  3. Put lots of pressure on global companies to not have any affiliation or even secondary affiliation with such behavior. This could cause a country to adjust their standards.
  4. Just because you read something that is articulate, looks credible, and makes sense.......don't trust it. Its very easy to do, but remember that the people delivering this information are often very intelligent and know how to deliver this information to you in a way that will be very convincing. I hope this article is true, but we really have no clue what is going on with Corona.
  5. It was a pretty powerful speech, you could feel his energy and passion. I think that emphasis he put on voting will actually lead to a lot of negative talk about trump from those in the media. No one is gaining anything these days by siding with Trump and its going to have a domino effect quickly.
  6. This virus is helping to create chaos. Honestly, I'm entertained by it all, but I hope everyone is safe. Coronavirus has to be spreading too in all these protests at least somewhat despite the masks. This is going global now, will it spread throughout the world?
  7. https://inequality.org/facts/racial-inequality/ https://www.census.gov/content/dam/Census/library/visualizations/2018/demo/p60-263/figure1.pdf https://www.pgpf.org/blog/2019/10/income-and-wealth-in-the-united-states-an-overview-of-data Why do you think that the median household income in the USA is(2018 latest data); White=$69k vs Black $41k I think we need to make a resolution to make those numbers equal. Maybe it takes 20 years, but at least have a plan. Does it not matter to you -(most on here are white)? What can be done? Its a big part of what is happening right now, its not just about the George Floyd incident.
  8. Those have higher incomes because the US allows a high number of highly skilled workers to come over from other countries. Poor people have a much harder time transplanting to the US from those countries. Black people were born/brought into a white world and their families started with $0 wealth many generations ago. Wealth=power and they never caught up.
  9. You are out of your mind, calm the F down. I think they destroyed .01% of all businesses in the US, but that number is probably high. Definitely not ALMOST ALL. You are creating your own fckn misery, create happiness instead.
  10. Lol, just off the top of my head in the last two months, he blamed his own administration for cutting the Pandemic Response Team that Obama created. He says he knew nothing about that team (huge lies) that could have helped prevent the US from having the most Coronavirus deaths in the world.
  11. In Los Angeles today, 9 squad cars damaged pretty bad (a couple totaled). Yet they haven't been damaging businesses yet. That at least seems more efficient. The fucking president needs to come out and talk about police reforms and racial inequality and get congress and the senante together on a sunday to start solving those problems. Instead, he was at the spacelaunch bragging about what his administration has done since he took office, and stating that he will not let "thugs" run the streets under his watch.
  12. Yeah all of these could be contributing. People have been locked up for months, many are broke or jobless, and the President creates a divide in the country with his actions and comments. I think the biggest factor that leads to violence is the wealth and wage gap between the rich and poor and between races. The median black household income in the US is less than 2/3 than whites, and the wealth gap is even more damning. This is what needs to be fixed. By the way, many consider the word thugs to be a racially motivated word - which the president loves to use. He also used the phrase in a tweet "when the looting starts, the shooting starts", which is of racist origin which he denied knowing. This is another example of a sly way to create a divide.
  13. I don't see that happening but you never know. You need a few thousand people to not care if they are shot to assemble in front of the white house. 99% of the people who are out there know the boundaries and aren't willing to die.
  14. It never changes so something drastic needs to be done. Other methods have failed for decades. You can call it tribalism, or unconscious, - but there is a deep reason behind these riots as a collective group. Black median income in the US was $40,258 in 2018, and white median income was $68,145 in 2018. Until stats like these get closer together, and police beatings to minorities slow down, the racial divide will be great.
  15. I talked to a couple right-wing family members about this and they both quickly said it was a terrible video, but the majority of their focus was turned to the damage done by the rioters/looters and how wrong that was. They don't see the racism.
  16. Everything that's created comes out of silence.
  17. So YouTube-a private company- should be forced to allow such videos as beastialety, porn, torturing videos, people promoting racial beatings, etc? Or do you have limits? Maybe they have limits that are just slightly different than yours.
  18. I'm pretty sure most modern dictionaries don't define it as a bond between a man and a woman. Legislation should be in favor of gay marriage. Think of how many gay married couples adopt kids...often getting a child out of a bad situation, and keeping down the human population.
  19. If you break down, "method for being a millionaire" it really means, "whats the best way of getting more stuff than everyone else". The currency could be thousands, millions, billions...really you are just saying," I want more than my fair share, how do I get it?" If everyone had a million, you would be asking how to be a billionaire...
  20. Huh? No way. About 6% of Americans are millionaires with 1 million in total net worth or more. Lots of frugal/conservative spenders making 60-90k are millionaires by the time they retire - yet most americans aren't good with their money like that.
  21. I see beggars at intersections near me who travel and do drugs/psychedelics all the time, and they definitely aren't millionaires. They get enough food and survive too. So are you ok with that? Or do you really want all that plus comfort too? Or do you just want it all?
  22. If you agree with Trumps policies over Biden/democrats, thats very understandable. Biden doesn't seem like a great candidate either. The point is that you don't want to attach yourself to anything, or else your emotions/thoughts get more conflicted with each other. For example, if you are a Lawyer, don't think of yourself as "Joe the Lawyer", think of yourself as "Joe who practices as a Lawyer sometimes". Otherwise, everytime someone says Lawyers are scum, you will consciously or unconsciously think that person is calling you scum. Much like if you support Trumps policies, or like how he negotiates with other countries (he does have some good negotiating skills in some areas). You are "Joe who likes some Trump policies", not "Joe the Trump supporter" (not saying you are, just giving an example). It gives your mind much more flexibility and open mindedness.
