@billiesimon Have you studied spiral dynamics? -
Is your current major and degree something you actually want? Is that your life purpose? If so, then cultivate vision, if not, then why are you wasting your time and money?

@Jack Walter Leon I see how what I said could be interpreted as arrogant or egotistical. But consider yourself as a student in math class. I give you the answers now, you nod your head and go "Oh yeah, I understand." But because you didn't derive the answers for yourself, you wouldn't be able to pass the next test. And when life gets hard, I really don't want you to fail your tests. You are asking the right questions, but they cannot be answered by anyone else but you, if you want to embody it in a healthy way. -

Your ego and this realization are not compatible. They cannot exist at the same time. That's because you haven't taken the necessary time, effort, and "skin in the game" to understand it. This isn't a light realization... You're going to have to follow all the ramifications, study it for hours and hours, and do the practices for weeks to even catch glimpses of this. The answers you're seeking will only come when you dive in deeper and directly experience nonduality. Me telling you these things now would potentially be a disservice to you. -

No, it's actually extremely funny! Go meta and have a laugh at yourself sometime, it's quite nice. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, coming from a man who named himself Socrates -
This is manipulation. Drop it. Really contemplate and go through scenarios where your good intentions of trying to change people will backfire and do a disservice to the people you're trying to help. There's no "buts." No Shortcuts. No cheats to make people understand. Notice that your wanting of other people to change is actually ego-centered. You want the cheat codes! You THINK you want this for their benefit, but no, that's just a smokescreen for your egoic desires of validation. The universe is going to reflect that right back at you, and it's not going to be pretty. There's a great quote, funny enough, from the movie "XXX" with Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson. Vin says, "If you're going to send someone to save the world, make sure they like it the way it is." Man, if you could just unpack the deep wisdom in that quote...

@onacloudynight the reason you have to practice love and acceptance is because you can't change a person unless they want to be changed. Some people aren't meant to go higher, have no desire to. The best thing you could do is lead by example and not try to change people directly.

I think it's going to be much faster than most people think. I personally think somewhere between 30 and 60 years. -

Yes, you should be terrified! You must die to find the answers, and it is not something you can "know" it is only something you can "be." All conceptualizations about it are automatically not it, and would pale in comparison. I'm still in my early journey, but I am beyond satisfied with the answers I've found so far. It actually highlights how neurotic and backwards my old paradigms were (those of society). -
@CreamCat that's awesome, one of the best things you can become conscious of. Always lead with the assumption that you've barely scratched the surface of your own Bullshit. That your Bullshit is almost like a bottomless pit (there is an end, but you're most likely still a ways away). Accept that, but keep in the back of your mind that there is an end and it's worth it to become conscious and outgrow your Bullshit.

No, no one can do such a thing. Not even Leo. This is a personal question of how much you can drop your limiting beliefs and prove it to yourself. What is "free will" fundamentally saying? It is that an action happens completely spontaneously by itself. An output with no input. REALLY think about that. Free will cannot exist in any form if there's even 1% outside influence on your decision process. Have you ever studied how you make a decision? Have you ever noticed how you can't control your thoughts or know what your next thought will be? Free will was a false assumption fed to you by society to make you feel like you have freedom to make choices. It's ego pandering. It turns out this is the work of the Devil, because giving you this false assumption of control leads to all kinds of judgment, anxiety, and hatred. Giving you the idea of free will and freedom ACTUALLY ALTERS your decision process, many times for the worse! Any teenager could tell you this, or you could reflect on your own direct experience. I don't care if any of this makes sense... It's just an invitation to explore the matter for yourself. That's the only way you'll truly know. -
@Belay kelemework yes. I noticed the biggest change in authenticity after his 30 (eh, 15) day Buddha retreat. The beard. How he carried himself. How authentic he was in the ego backlash video. Very noticeable!

@Serotoninluv I've tried mescaline HcL, but I have yet to try the natural form with the other dozens of alkoloids. Reading the Teachings of Don Juan, so now I'm really wanting to try it. As for other recommended psychs, AL-LAD, LSD, 2-CB, MDMA, DMT, and 5-Meo-DMT. No need to try any others, and trust me I've tried a lot. Those are the tried and true, cream of the crop! -
@outlandish I'm still young and haven't done much with my life so far, so I might be an odd case, but almost all of my top 10 greatest experiences have happened on psychedelics in the last couple years. Of course, these experiences can't simply be described... You'll just have to take my word for it

Purple - any shamanic drumming, chanting, or instrumentals. Red - the vast majority of rap music today. Garbage. Literally close your eyes and pick a song on the top 40 list, and it's bound to have red influences. Popular music is probably the lowest dragging influence in our culture right now. Our politics and economics and businesses are orange, starting to move into green, and yet our music is basically 3rd world country, Africa levels of development. Sad. Blue - gospel music. Country music. Orange - modern pop. Some classic and modern rock. Rap. Again, the majority of music out there is red/orange, so it's not worth it to recommend a song. This is where streamlined, 3 minute songs with the same chord structure started permeating culture. No soul. "Easy listening." Stuff like that. Green - "Three Little Birds" Bob Marley. Lyrical content about love, community, and perhaps drugs. Music wise, a return to natural instruments (although electronic music is also big in green), just not heavily processed and trite. Yellow - now this is interesting, I actually think most classical music was written by genius masters (because they had to be), and as a pianist who studied Bach counterpoint among other styles and structures, this shit was YELLOW. Classical music is pretty advanced and healing! Progressive Rock is yellow (Pink Floyd, Steven Wilson, Dream Theater, etc.). Some world music. Think green that became more aware and integral. Turquoise- Dauologn -Sigur Rós. Awaken -Yes. Gates of Delerium -Yes. Museum of Consciousness -Shpongle. Also some post rock like Aural Method, Altus, and Paint the Sky Red.

@Serotoninluv that being said, the other side of the coin is feeling the need to fit in and laugh with everyone else is itself a sign you're taking life too seriously. For example, my sense of humor has little overlap with most people's, so I'm just not going to find jokes funny. And that's OK!! ?

This. It's never a matter of should or shouldn't. You're going to follow your natural impulses. As Leo had said, "Development AND awakening." Not one above or before the other. Temporarily one will take more importance, but overall, you must have both simultaneously! -
This post is for yesterday, 2-1. The beginning of my new nofap streak. So after two 2+ week streaks, my longest ever, my ego had to retreat to "lick its wounds" so to speak. I've relapsed probably 5 times in the past week, but now I'm going hard-core again to try to run the whole 90 days. I learned and grew a lot since starting this journal, so here we go!! Day 1: Energy: 3 Awareness: 3 Sexual thoughts/urges: 4 Self-esteem: 4 Social confidence: 4 Saw the hottest girl I've ever seen (only at work) today. Straight 10/10 blonde, yoga pants with literally out of this world ass... T R I G G E R E D. And on the first day of my streak? I took it as a sign, lol. You know what's even funnier, I calculated what would be my 90th day if I kept up this streak, and it falls on Dwayne Johnson and David Beckham's birthday! Yeah, the two that are constantly voted the sexiest men alive... Another sign. Gotta get my shit together so I can crack a cold one with the boys on day 90. I want my superpowers!!

@LoveandPurpose sounds like you got it! Good, so now I'll indulge in your inquiry ? Raise you consciousness. Raise your capacity to love. See the beauty in life. Feel alive, to not have a day go by where you're going through the motions. (Bring consciousness into even the most mundane tasks). Drop all ideologies. Just those 5 would radically change your life if embodied! Here's the rest
-
@LoveandPurpose lol, sorry to break it to you, but even that is completely illusory and meaningless. "Measurement of success" is a stage orange idea that doesn't hold any water when you start expanding your identity. My answer would simply be to fully accept your life and practice present, conscious awareness. But even that is from a certain perspective, and saying too much. Not everyone is meant to do that.
