  1. So something interesting as happened yesterday. I was at a family dinner and all sort of arguments started to pop up. Such as the environment, politics(in canada) and to an extent some xenophobic ideas about muslims. I could have just shut up and let the thing happen but I decided to expose some green ideas to my mostly orange family. No need to tell you that they didn't like that. The main blockage that I noticed was that they used their old age to validate their position. As in: I lived through a lot of stuff therefore what I believe is true and what you(me) think is bullshit because you are 20 years old. They are telling me that when I grow up I will understand that I was deluded. They believe that the whole ecological movement is just a trend that will die out. I am willing to admit that they lived through way more stuff than I did and they surely know more than me about how to manage survival within the current system that we live in but I honestly can't buy into their ideas anymore. It just seems so silly to believe that(and I am retelling what I heard yesterday) poor people in less developed countries are responsible for the ecological crisis and that our hedonist lifestyle here in the West isn't. And at the same time cultivating hate and fear for those people so that we make sure that they do not come here and corrupt our way to live with their beliefs. The level of self-reflection is very low and I am a bit lost as to how I can handle those types of situations. On one hand I understand that they are where they are and I can't push green ideas onto them without serious backlash. On the other hand I genuinely feel sad about our unsustainable way to live and I would like to do something about it. I feel like the resistance toward moving up into green is HUGE. I feel like there is no concern at all for what is happening outside of our family. My dad told me that he is willing to make effort for the environment as long as it doesn't compromise his own confort.(By confort I mean all the material stuff like bad food, alcohol, entertainment, shopping, technology. I personally couldn't care less about that so there is a huge gap between them and me. I am trying to find a common ground but I can't find any. By the way I consider myself mostly green with orange and yellow in there.
  2. @Adam M Thank you for the great perspectives everyone.
  3. Remember that the more you do something the easier it gets. If you have social anxiety then go to a bunch of social events. Talk to strangers and face your fear head on. There's is a limit to what introspection can do. You have to consciously put yourself out of your confort zone. Then you will have no choice but to grow.
  4. https://www.rythmia.com Just found out about this place has anybody here tried that?
  5. No. Might be helpful. Might not be. Definitely not crucial.
  6. You are confusing diet with a belief system diet is not a belief system. For exemple I eat only plants yet I don't consider myself a vegan. I just eat what is best suitable for my body and it turns out that it is plants. I don't know about other people's experience but from what I see it seems safe to assume that the human body was designed to eat plants.(mostly)(there's much more nuance to it) One of the reason why you might want to stop eating animals is that you recognize that it won't cut it for the work that we are doing here. If you want maximum energy and focus then you will tend to correct your diet accordingly. Not because it's bad per say.
  7. For many myself included it was the way in to spirituality/meditation and PD so I disagree. Yes someone might be well developed without phsychedelics but it does not mean anything. It is way more nuanced than that.
  8. Leo as a video where he contrast religion and science if I recall correctly. Something like: Science vs Religion. I think it would be a great way to expose him to the fact that science is also just a perspective.
  9. I don't know any but why would you want that anyway? Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you need to pack on loads of proteins to build muscle or whatever. Too much protein can actually be harmful.
  10. How to reconcile romantic relationships with nonduality?
  11. I would say: try to be focusing on yourself, on what YOU believe. Doesn't matter who put that into your mind. Try to take responsibility for every thing that happens in your life. You are responsible for Everything right now.
  12. Don't do anything let it take you where it wants to take you and watch. You can ask questions it is quite powerful. I wouldn't want to watch any TV or even listen to music for the first time. Just sit there and do nothing, questions will naturally ask themselves.
  13. Yeah that's a horrible idea IMO ? sorry
  14. @Mikael89 What do you expect from these kind of debates?
  15. Depends on a lot of factors. From what you eat to your saliva's acidity. I did spend many many days without brushing and didn't notice any issues. Not even bad breath as I did not eat any dairy or sugars. I brush them every so often now because I enjoy it.(Oddly enough but it's great time to be mindful)
  16. You are lost in your own mind. See those processes as just happening. You are thinking: Ok should I do that or should I do that, etc. Recognize that you are doing that. Set truth as your priority and pay close attention. It doesn't matter what the mind comes up with.
  17. @Brandon Nankivell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEh7cBv1kMc There's a bunch of other instances where he talked about that.
  18. Yeah it pretty much all starts with you. The reason for that is that people don't give a shit about what you tell them. They are moved by the way you are not by what you preach. If you breath life they will notice no matter what you do. Joy brings joy, be joyful.
  19. Nice label I like the sound of it. Very rhythmical
  20. Gather the beauty around you. Nature, museums, live music, seeing people you love. Those are all great. Learning something new is super powerful especially if it is in your domain. For exemple: as a musicien(I don't know you medium but it doesn't matter) you might just want to learn a piece of music you love. Learning what every instruments do, asking yourself why you love that, what is it about this perticular moment that gives you chill? Or whatever. Do that for whatever medium you are working with.
  21. Honesty, honesty, honesty If you're honest with yourself and others you instantaneously remove the need to prove anything, to remember lies you told, to act a certain way, and you can look at what you are as just that: what you are. Look at honesty as boosting your freedom to insane levels even though nothing external as to change(which doesn't mean it can't.) Even the notion of being confident flies out the window. An honest being does not need to care about being confident he just lets life unfold before him in the most authentic way. It comes across as being confident to others but really it's not. Your honest self holds no fear. Now let me ask you why aren't you confident right now? What do you fear? Doesn't mean you go do or say whatever you want if it is going to hurt people. Be smarter than that. But most important: be honest. High five ✋there we go. You can do it?
