  1. @blazed There are infinite perspectives. If you weren't your perspective, you'd another, or none at all. It's sort of like you're asking, why is a tree a tree and not a rock? Because if it was a rock, it would be a rock, not a tree. And what determined which thing a thing will be? It's absolutely infinite. All things have been, are being, and will be. That is the wonder of God.
  2. Yes, this is a pervasive problem for mankind. Because very few people think about life from scratch for themselves. They just go along with the herd, which means you are indoctrinated by the lowest common denominator of your culture and era.
  3. Maybe. You wouldn't be the first person. But also, not necessarily. You can just sit and contemplate and figure lot of shit out purely in your head. It really helps to contemplate your own death. I have an episode by that very title. By contemplating your own death, you get clear about what you want out of life. You're taking life totally for granted right now. If you became really conscious of what life is, you would have enough motivation for 50 lifetimes. Soul-searching takes work. Because it is abstract work, people tend not to recognize it as work, and so never actually do it. And then they wonder why their life sucks. How many hundreds of hours have you spent soul-searching? Take a week off and go spend it alone in a cabin in the woods thinking about your life. That's where real work happens.
  4. THERE IS NO YOU! There are only appearances identical with nothing. You are nothing. You are not bound to anything because you don't even exist. Eating, sleeping, jumping in front of a car -- that's not you. That's appearances appearing. Stop assuming you're an appearance. Check direct experience. P.S. "the screen" you are talking about, is nothing. It's a not-screen.
  5. @John Iverson You've got the whole thing backwards. 1) You don't exist. 2) Neither does anything else. The only problem is that you are identified with appearances and consider them "reality". That is all. Try flipping your model upside down. Walk around for a day telling yourself, "Everything I'm seeing, is what death looks like." You are walking around inside of death right now. You're just calling it "life". The truth is, you are already dead. You just don't realize it. Just because appearances arise, doesn't make you alive.
  6. Only if you are more conscious while it is happening
  7. Lol See, that's the problem right there. The ego is manipulating to get its same old self-agenda through. But the point of evolving to healthier forms of motivation is that parts of the ego must die. The old self-agenda must die. It's a tricky thing. You have to surrender your old ideas of what is right, good, and proper for your life. And that's a scary thing. You cannot do that if your #1 goal is getting shit done or maintaining the status quo. Your #1 goal should instead be: truth and authenticity. You have to face the hard question of whether running is something you do at all. And why? Why do anything? Why not just eat ice cream all day? Yes, you will definitely sacrifice results in the short term. That is the nature of all consciousness work. It is not about results. It is about truth and authenticity. To put results above truth is to put the cart before the horse, and is what ultimately leads to all human problems. It's hard to strike a balance between the two at first.
  8. @Stephyk8 Yes, it tends to be a male-dominated field. But you can find more feminine versions of it as well if you google around.
  9. Great work right there. That's how deep you gotta dig. We very easily forget stuff like that once we're older. Much of this LP discovery process is getting back in touch with those kinds of long-suppressed, long-ignored passions.
  10. Yoga There are many kinds of yoga. Kundalini yoga Kriya yoga Sadhguru's yoga etc.
  11. Just about finished rendering my newest video. This one will have lots of pretty graphics. Excited to share it with you guys.
  12. @rush If someone told me 7 years ago that I would be well paid for sitting around, reading books, meditating, taking psychedelics, and doing philosophy all day, I would have laughed in their face. What market could there possibly be for that???
  13. That's why LSD comes in packs of 10
  14. You are making this some grandiose thing. There is no leap of faith. Just live your life with passion and joy. That's all self-actualization is saying. What is the point of living a life you hate? That is just stupidity and laziness. When you realize this, and you get serious about living a good life, you will discover that personal development and raising your consciousness are the best tools for that. And when you raise your consciousness high enough, there you will find God. All your current ideas about God are wrong, and so were Kierkegaard's.
  15. @Max_V What you will eventually discover is that even "awareness" and "consciousness" are misleading terms. The closest word is Nothing. Reality simply "knows" being by being. The problem with terms like awareness and consciousness is that imply a human agent or a mental process. But that is NOT how reality knows itself. It knows through being. To be true, is to be known.
  16. @Serge Careful not to get carried away with your radical models. Don't confuse nonduality with anything-goes. It's the opposite of that, actually. You want to become hyper-aware of the narratives your mind is building about reality, and drop them as much as possible. The fact is, most of the stuff you believe, you have zero experience of. It's very easy to abuse this work and hurt people. So be very careful with your theorizing.
  17. @John I'm not sure what you mean. You find your LP, you set a strong vision, and you work towards it as best you can without quitting. You only quit if something even better comes along. Emotions will come and go. There will be good times and bad times. You just keep at it. Success in business is no easy thing. People grossly underestimate that. The marketplace does NOT just pay you money for your work. You have to fight for it.
  18. @egoless Stop making nonsense posts. You are distracting not only yourself, but other people with your monkey mind.
  19. I never claimed it was THE BEST book on kundalini. It is just one which I read which I liked.
  20. In last week's book list update, I forgot the single most powerful book I read this year! Doh! It has now been added to the list at the very top. Make sure you read it.
  21. The reason people seek for decades and never get it, is because they aren't seriously contemplating. They are running around doing all sorts of spiritual practices, new age practices, retreats, worshipping Ekhart Tolle, hugging gurus, adopting beliefs like "we are all one", and reading books, but they are not questioning their actual identity for realz. Of course! That's just one the traps within the trap. Most people who do spirituality do a softcore version of it. They are looking for comfort, not truth. And they get stuck following one teaching, which is often insufficient to point them to the truth. Or they have no focus and dabble in a bunch of stuff without any depth. Which is why psychedelics are so good. They cut through all that human crap and force you to go existential.
  22. @Feeble Dave Concepts can mirror reality in a very simplified and crude way. A model is a loose abstraction of the territory. Notice that to make predictions you can use all sorts of alternative metaphysical models. The power of mathematical modeling is precisely in that it is so abstract as to say nothing about anything other than the observed RELATIONSHIPS between two variables.
  23. @Charlotte It's a baby step in the right direction. Keep at it. There is staggering depth to Absolute Infinity.
