I looked into this. It seems the main reason is just high crime and alcoholism rate among that population and poor police presence. Even more indigenous men go missing for example.

I've had lot of experience with the Indigenous ppl where I grew up, lot of Reserves there...There are many reasons why the women are missing, many are killed by relatives, unreported murders and/or accidents, many are kidnapped, brought into sex slavery and other types of slavery, its a horrible mess what is happening to those ppl, so much pain and sorrow, as Eckhart Tolle says their Pain Body is huge...

I guess my point was, the reasons behind the crime.

High crime and alcoholism are symptoms in my mind. Not really ‘reasons’.
