@Something Funny Qigong is the practice of directing and a balancing your life force energy. It involves stretching, breathing, tapping/ self massage, flowing movements and more.

Where other forms of exercise focus on strength, endurance, flexibility, or sport specific skills Qigong is more focused on developing relaxation and suppleness in the body. Its also focused on balancing and directing the life force energy, and cultivating a more relaxed, balanced and harmonious inner life energy/ state. It’s almost a 180 compared to a lot of exercise.

Qigong is essentially a moving mediation that involves what I stated above.

Western yoga uses a lot of lunging type poses and postures while qigong is considerably less strenuous generally and is more flowing compared to postural. Focused on stretching…They are similar practices and shared a lot in their development. However, Qigong is more gentle, flowing and focused on balancing the life force energy.  Where modern yoga holds postures Qigong flows and moves with relaxation. However, there are thousands of types of Qigong and some practices are more focused on stretching, spinal health, curing depression, lung health, the Heath of certain organs, moving energy through certain pathways, developing inner peace, improving protective Qi, relaxing, waking up the body, etc there’s so many types of Qigong.

Qigong is from China, Chinese medicine

Yoga is from India, aryuveda
